Default Cravings

Pre op I could have never imagined that I would not crave food. I dreamt about it and kinda miss it but I do not crave it. It is such a gift. I can appreciate good food but I do not have to eat it. I am still really fresh out of surgery and still not hungry. I have heard that many people get that hunger back. When the hunger comes back do also the cravings? I never want to crave bad food again. What do you do when a craving is calling?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I have no cravings yet, but there are somethings that I see and think about, but don't really crave them, and I hope that I will never again.

I was about 8 weeks out when mine began. I would take a small bite and I mean a small one of what ever it was and that did it. You will find it dont taste like you remembered either.

I havent experienced any cravings yet, maybe I'm not far out enough yet. I have really wanted a couple of things, one being pumpkin pie, I did the 3 bite "thing", I had one small bite to reminisce,(it wasnt as good as I remembered) then a second small bite, too be sure, and a third to say goodbye. It has worked for me, and it seems that the things I used it on were not as good as I used to think they were before surgery.

YEs it does come back. I didnt think that in the begining. I kept thinking wow this surgery worked on my mind too. but yes the cravings come back. My problem is carbs and I really try to stay away from them. Once I do let myself have some its like the rest of the day watch out and the carb monster takes over. I know some people crave sweets but this has never been my issue. For me its salty and crunchy. So when I really need to much I have pretzels or rice cakes. I have had popcorn too.
I stil think some days, even thought I am 8 months out, that alot of the cravings are head hunger.

I have found that if I "give in" to a craving - a burger king hamburger for example, it just tastes nasty to me now -- no offense BK, I just used to love those burgers and now I just dont. I've had that issue with lots of foods. I used to love chicken, made it at least 3-4x a wk - now - ewww! once a week is plenty -- for which my family is grateful - LOL. I also react to fats, sugars so that helps make this issue easier coz it's not worth hurling over!!!

Default The EVIL will come back, I PROMISE!!!

Just remember there are two ways to handle them. First, you eat them, this isn't all that bad unless you mean the whole bag of Oreo's. The difference here is if your dying that bad for an Oreo cookie eat one or two to satisfy that demon that got us to where we were or are still at. The key here is " WILL POWER". After those two, STOP!!!!!!!!! If you don't you will be very sorry if you had the real bypass surgery cuz you will pay for it in a couple of hours, BELIEVE ME!!!! I messed up a couple of times. The second way, just say no and don't eat it. This one is way tougher, but way more effective and way less shooting out your butt!!! LOL!!!!! Just remember if you choose the first one, there is something that happens the 5th or 6th time you do it. Because you can eat those two Oreo's you begin to think that maybe you can eat 4 then later 6 then later 8 then your in line at Baskin-Robins getting an upside-down banana split!!! Just be smart about your actions and don't torture yourself about a cookie. Everytime that donut sounds good look at the before pic in your wallet or purse and remember what it was like to not fit into chairs and constantly be out of breath. Just a little wisdom from Big Wylly!!!!!

It's amazing how many times the hunger pains are mistaken and are really just thirst pains. Often I find when I'm getting hungry I will satisfy myself with a drink. Water of course is best, but some fruit juice makes it's way in now and then.
