Yesterday I wrote asking why coffee was a no-no. Thank you for all your answers!! Today I wanna know why diet soda is a no-no??? I am guessing because of the carbonation??? I will really miss diet soda,,even more than coffee!!! ![]()

Carbonation is why. I use to love Diet coke and diet pepsi and I have not had one since the day before surgery 8 months ago and I cant beleive I am saying this but I do not miss it at all. I drink water and FUZE fruit drink and its amazing how our tastes change after surgery.

some say the carbonation stretches the pouch. ( i dont believe that lol) others say it is a trigger and to stay away from it because of that (this one i do believe) by trigger i mean it reminds you of all the bad stuff you used to eat with it and makes you want that too. pizza, burgers etc. i have some every now and then. sometimes i just want the bubbles. but you have to RESPECT the bubbles. sometimes it goes down ok other times i feel like my gutts are gonna explode.

Carbonation is the key word. You don't want extra gas in your pouch for one thing. (Remember the gas bloating your guts?) It will often act as a trigger for bad cravings for another. However, if you really crave it, one way to deal with this, is to keep that one last can in your fridge, and if you can't keep away from it, open it, let it stand for a while so the bubbles go away, then have a sip. That usually seems to take care of the craving.
