How long did you wait to eat red meat. My home istructions say that at 3 weeks I can have blenderized meat - would this include hamburger in chili, etc.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

For me meat was very tricky at first, I started with hamburger and chewed chewed chewed!!! Most of the time I barfed, and hamburger still gives me a hard time. Blenderized would be like pureed wouldn't it? I didn't even try pureed meat, sounded too gross to me, I waited until I was put on soft foods.

i cant remember to be honest. for me most of my meats werent until a month or so out if i recal * scratching my head*

...but i remember the first few times meat gave me a hard time. especially "grainy" beef like steaks...stll cant tolerate them too well to this day.

but if it says blenderized i think that means you have to puree it til its mush (yuck) lol. you will find your way

Honestly I cant remember when I was allowed to have red meat. I want to say it was further out but then again all surgeons are different. I happen to do very well with steak and pork and etc...But I know alot of people on here dont do well with steak and etc....I guess everyone is different. I would just advise to try it slowly and gradually and see how your pouch does with it.

Im with the rest i cant remember but I know that you have to chew it chew it chew it. Hamburger would probally be your better bet. Make sure it is somthing you cook yourself instead of processed. For instance meatballs. Processed meatballs were horrible on my tummy. I dont know if you like deviled ham or potted meat. That is perhaps somthing you might try before you go to chewing.

I was allowed at 2 weeks out to have meat and they just said to remember to CHEW CHEW CHEW and if I had problems to stop and try something else. I have not had problems with any kind of meat. I count myself as one of the lucky ones! My nutritionist said she didn't believe in pureed meats because they were nasty and that it would just be like punishment. She was so right, they taste horrible-the baby food ones at least.

I still don't do well with red meats. I have tried it twice and got very very sick after only two bites. It contains so much fat in eat. I have just decided not to do red meat. It's healthier for me that way any way.

I think I was probably a good 2.5-3 mos out. I hate chicken now, but do well with stewed beef and pork, always using lean cuts and trimming fat. The longer it cooks, the better I like it. I also enjoy spices a lot now. Also, I do make sure to chew it to death and I swallow it with something that moves like mashed potatos with ff gravy or the meat drippings. I havent had a problem with meat, only sauces that are too sweet or rich. I think I may be the exception on that (being able to tolerate these meats), so go slow. Good luck.

I'm only allowed hamburger, they tell me all other beef is too heavy and doesn't break down well. I try it sometimes and I'm always sorry. But all docs are different so go by your docs rules.
