Cool Questions Regarding Hair Loss

I too have thin hair and worry about hair loss. I started taking vitamins/minerals for hair a few months before my surgery and continue to do so. I'm 2 months out of surgery and have not noticed any but from what I've read here it starts later. My weight loss seems to be going at a slower pace this last 3 weeks - I've lost 35 lbs to date. I saw my GP doctor yesterday and she emphasized that she would prefer to see me stay at the 2-3 pounds a week verses faster weight loss. And of course I would like all the weight gone now, but if loosing slower will help curb the hair loss - SIGN ME UP!

Has anyone else lost at a slower rate and still had the hair loss?

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

?? if theres a way to control the weight loss let me know PLEASE! lol. i think no matter what, in the rapid losing stage the hair falls out. most of us started losing it at -50lbs or so. then i started losing hair AGAIN when i reach -100lbs...i just go with it. it will stop eventually. you wont go bald.

PS. i think at 2 months out i hit my first stall. that could explain the appearance of it slowing down.

I agree with Kenya. No matter what I think we will all go thru the hair loss. For me it started just about the 3 month mark. It was kinda nerve racking but I certianly didnt go bald. I took all the vitamins and etc..too but I think there is no way to avoid it.
Who knows maybe loosing slower helps it out. Not sure.

Biotin helps to regrow the hair but I dont think any of us have figured out how to slow it or stop it. I am 6 months out and am still losing quite a bit,it is scry but like everyone says here,we wont go bald!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kathy

Thanks ladies! I guess I just need to accept the fact that's it's going to go. A shorter haircut will have to do.

I'm dealing with the hair issue now, it's bugging me too, but I know it will grow back. I'm thinking about going shorter because it seems thicker. Also, losing a 12" strand of hair seems a lot worse than losing a 3" strand of hair - especially in the shower drain thingy - yikes!!! On the plus side, it doesnt take as long to dry my hair now....

Well, this post got me thinking even more about my hair issue and while I was at the salon with DD, I got a few inches trimmed off. Looks fuller or maybe its just my imagination

I'm telling you the shorter the better. I have a great cut right now. Of course, my camera is on the fritz, along with my computer, so I cannot take a picture. The cut, along with all the money I have spent on nioxin products, really makes me look like I have hair, but if you get close enough you can see the bald spots. Get a spikey haircut like me so when it grows back straight out, it will work. LOL!

oh my...you know it's always funny to me when med people 'want you to slow the weight loss down' like it truly is controllable or something!! LOL wow..blows my mind.

Hair loss happens..I've had it happen also after I had another surgery a year later and when really bad stressors happen for me too. The best we can do is keep up with our supplements, don't do stressing things to the hair to make it weaker and realize it's gonna grow slower after the surgery, keep that in mind when you choose to cut it off! I wish I never had cut mine..:-(

Finally at 5.5 yrs out my nails and hair are starting to grow at a normal rate again, but normal/normal not my old way normal/super fast!
