I am having the surgery on jan9,,, on the 8th i was told i had to do bowel prep. how soon after i start drinking the stuff{it's miralax mixed with gatorade} ew ew ew... will i have to ..um... ya know ..be by the facilities!! they have given me from 10am to 2pm to drink 64 oz of it..that seems like A LOT to me! thanks again for answering my questions!!!

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Didn't do Miralax. I had to do Magnesium Citrate, a 10 oz bottle and it hit me after 45 minutes. It will depend on how much you have to take and how your body reacts to it. Good Luck and I recommend vaseline for an irritated bottom. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Wow, I was really curious about this post because starting 3 days before surgery (which is on a tuesday - so all weekend and monday) I have to do 2 tbsp. of milk of mag AND a fleets enema at 7pm each night. Gosh, I'm on shakes for almost 6 weeks and the day before is clear liquids - what could be left! My docs really put me through the ringer with the medifast and enemas. I thought it was common practice, but now I think my dr is into some kind of crazy torture - not wls!
