Ok I dont really know much about BMI and etc. I know its the body max index and etc...But we got a new scale today and it stores your height in there and then when you weigh and etc...it gives you your BMI. What I dont get is my hubby who is a runner and I would say in great shape. I dont see any fat on him and if he lost any weight he would be too skinny. Well its says his BMI is 25 which on the charts put him at overweight. I just dont get that. Very strange.

Now on a good note the scale and chart show my BMI at 27 now and my BMI at the begining of my journey was 44. So I am thriled to pieces that I brought my BMI way down to a 27.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I believe that BMI at 24.9 or lower is considered the rite weight for your height when u do the calculation. Kathy

BMI is just the balance caluculation for weight and height. In other words, it computes the preferred weight for a person of certain height. It's pretty well known to those who deal with it daily, that it can throw you off if you are a muscular person. Also, the taller you are, the *stricter* the numbers are. In other words, the taller you are, the weight you need to be at, to be in the normal range is going to be lower in rate compared to a short person. At the same BMI, a short person will be a tad on the full side, while a tall person will be a tad on the slim side.
In this cases like this, a scale that also computes body fat percentage (there are such scales) will give you a better picture. In other words, even if the BMI is a tad high, if his body fat is within the recommended range (below 25% for men), then he's fine, he just has plenty of muscle. If he has a pot belly though (which I take it he does not) beware, because there's going to be fat inside that pot, and in that case, BMI 25 is something to beo careful about.

The calculation equation for lb/inches is
(weight in lbs)/(square of height in inches) x 702
In other words, divide your weight in lbs twice with your height in inches then multply that by 702.

FYI for the metric system it's
(weight in kg)/(square of height in meter, not centimeter)

I dont understand the whole BMI thing either, when my husband was in the military and would have to the yearly Physical Training they had some of the strangest results. A few of the marines were extremely physically fit and were considered too high of a BMI. They were nothing but muscle! They ended up getting into trouble for it. Talk about STRANGE!!
