| Hi, monicainmiami I just had my surgery done May 22nd 06. My left side is still hurting, and my dr told me everyone say's that. So I guessed it was ok. For me. But I would call the dr and bug them until he calls you back. Today I have muscle cramps, I’m calling the dr asking for something to relax them. I know there are a lot of pains that go with this surgery, and everyone is not the same. I think last night I was having some fatigue. But your not alone, I understand. Hey feel free to email me anytime you need.

Monica, even through this, are you taking your liquids? Be careful not to dehydrate whatever, because dehydration will make matters worse, whatever is causing you pain. Also, is your pain getting worse? If it is , you need to see a dr, preferably your surgeon, but if he isn't available, your PCP.
Do you feel nauseous as well as having the pain? Nausea and vomiting can be indications of something serious, especially if that is getting worse. If you throw up even liquids, definitely see a dr ASAP.
No intention of scaring you, and it probably is just cramps, but best not to be sorry.
In any case, contacting your dr is a definite must.
I'm also going to take the liberty of moving this thread to the Questions forum, where you are more likely to get attention and input from others.
(((((((((((HUGS))))))))))) Hope you'll feel better soon.

| Totally NORMAL!! Don't worry Monica..... It's always a little strange....I think that the speed in which we are loosing weight is GREAT...but sooooo freaky. SO BIZARRE!! I think you are fine...as long as you are getting in your protein shakes in you are great. I understand about the pain in your left side....that trochar was used the most...and had the most instruments put in and out - so your tissue is really irritated and bruised....it takes a while for that part to feel better....don't worry you are coming on 3 weeks and you should be fine. Even though everyone is different....I think You will really start to feel better - like normal - around 5 -6 weeks...energy and everything! Now...it's normal life...it also takes a while to get adjusted to food...especially eating solids...and seeing what will irritate and what will be fine. I am still adjusting and I am 2mos out today....nearly 9 week post op. Hang in there Monica...once you are feeling better....you will feel like life will get back to normal... Congrats on your surgery...this will be such an exciting time!!! |

| Thank you all for the advice
THANKS FOR YOUR ENCOURAGING WORDS YOU HAVE NO IDEA THE PEACE IT BROUGHT ME I AM ONE OF THOSE OVERDRAMATIC PEOPLE AND I THOUGHT I WAS DYING. I HAVE BEEN PUTTING AN ICE PACK ON MY LEFT SIDE IT SEEMS TO NUMB THE PAIN A BIT (BEATS PAIN MEDS I REALLY DONT LIKE TAKING MEDICINE) PLUS I FIGURE IF YOU HAVE A SWOLLEN EYE YOU PUT ICE ON IT SO HOPE THIS WORKS. I HAVE ALSO SOMETIMES SKIPPED MY PREVACID SO MAYBE THAT COULD BE CONTRIBUTING TO THE PAIN. SO I AM BACK ON MY PUREES AND SOUPS (YUK) FOR ANOTHER WEEK AND THEN I'LL HAVE TO SEE WHAT I COULD START WITH WE LATINS ARE VERY CARB FRIENDLY SO ITS GOING TO BE SO HARD BUT I KNOW ITS WORTH IT BUT I REALLY THOUGHT THIS WAS GOING TO BE EASY I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN NOTHING IS EASY IT ALL TAKES HARD WORK AND SACRIFICE. WELL, THANKS AGAIN TO YOU ALL FemmeMode,
Becca AND ALL WHO HAVE HELPED ME GET OVER THIS DARK TIME
Monica

Hey Monica I am glad that you are feeling better and hope that it isn't too awful going back to purees and soups. Right now I am so sick of meat that I want to scream...lol. Oh well, it will all be worth it in the long run. It already is. Good luck with everything.
