Default my chew craving

ok at the risk of sounding like a total nutjob i am going to ask my stupid question of the day.... i am 5 days post op and obviously on a total liquid diet. today though, i so want something to bite into!! my daughter was making a bagel with cream cheese this morning and it looked SO GOOD. i amnot "feeling" hungry its more my brain telling my mouth to eat normal food. i know if i did at this point i could hurt my new plumbing but the craving is there none the less.... has anyone else who has had this done felt like this ? or should I make an appt with a psychiatrist?? LOLOL

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Yes, I was wanting to chew food, it is normal I think, we have teeth for a reason, I think the liquid part of the recovery was the hardest part for me. Even when I went to the puree food part I chewed my pureed food even though it didn't need to be chewed, just cause I needed to chew.

I'm on my liquid PRE-op diet and I miss chewing really bad. One of the ladies who had to go through with all this said couldn't take it anymore and blended some ice in a blender to chew on the chips of ice. Maybe you could try that. I haven't done it, but I don't like chewing on ice. I'm just dealing, I guess.

to make it thru this stage a lot of us ate ice. there are so many honorable mntions to ice early out that it is insane. it also helped gt in the fluids quickly. do you have a Sonic fast food restaurant near you? they sell chipped ice in a bag that is PERFECT. try it!

Can you have sugar free popsickles? They're liquid by the time they hit your pouch. I'd call your Dr. and ask.

You are in the hardest part of recovery, in my opinion. The food cravings drove me mad. I also felt depressed because I was really missing my favorite foods. The only thing that really helps is time. It takes time to break the food habits that we have had for years. I still get cravings, but they are in no way as intense as they were for the first 5-6 weeks.

It's a tough time you are going through, but it does get so much better. Try the ice and SF popsicles. The people here always have tons of great ideas to help us get through the tough spots. When you are frustrated come on here and vent. It does help and everyone here has been through it and understand the frustrations.

You are doing great. Keep your eye on the prize. This time will pass and it will all be worth it.
