Default 10-12 hrs fast for blood work!

The PA that has taken over my care after myPCP's contract got sold and he got moved away is VERY insistent about that I absolutely HAVE to do 10-12 hours FASTING blood work...I work 3rd shift which means I have to work 1130pm to 730am...my appt is right at 8:30am ..

The last time I worked a shift and just didn't "feel" like eating my snack I ended up in my car unable to drive home and my SGT feeding me a candy bar to get my blood sugar up because I was shaking so badly and nearly passed out.

Yes I look so healthy...but I don't ever go over 4 hrs if possible without eating protien..I don't do coffee plain..that always counts as a snack for me since I load it with cream and sweetner.

I know they want to see a fasting blood work result and see if it's any different from the other one. I had that one was the morning after the candy bar episode..even with the candy my glucose was 82. which meant that it'd started out pretty darn low.

I'm of a mind to have my SGT..a huge body builder black man just take m to my appt as he' strong enough to carry me inside the office if I"m passed out..LOL

But seriously I'm really worried and my stubborness comes out..

"FINE! I'll eat at 9pm when I get up...what are they thinking I"ll have a HUGE meal? first thing when I get up all I can get down is half a protein bar and coffe. ..then sure...if I don't end up in my own ER from low blood sugar I guess I'll make it to the office for that blood draw.."!!

see..I can really have a terrible stubborn attitude. 'cause by golly if that's what they want..then fine! 10-12 hrs no food it is!!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Oh, wow, a 10-12 hour fast is too dangerous for you.
Have you asked your PA about this? Since you eat 6 times a day, personally, I would think that fasting as in just before you eat in your regular timing would be fine, because whatever levels that are influenced by your meals, would be at its lowest right before your next meal, and if they are within normal limits, there shouldn't be much to worry about.
(I hope I'm making sense, when I reread what I just typed, I think I made it sound more complicated than I intended to )

Also, can you get a note from your surgeon or nutitionist or someone saying that this is not good for you?? seems quite extreme really.
I hope you get it sorted!

Maybe you could still do a fasting sugar if you make the late appointment at the lab. You get off work in the am so i bet you sleep during the day? so if you ate something at around 3am or so.....then get off work at 8 30, sleep the day wake up in the afternoon and go right for you labs?
