Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Congratulations on the 10 lb weight loss. That is awesome. I know how you feel because I have a niece who is only eight and weighs about 140lbs. I am very scared for her. I had a break down the other day when I found out my surgery has to postponed until I get insurance again and I told my sister she better take care of her daughter now before she ends up in my position which I don't want ANYONE ever to go through.

I have 10yr olds myself (twins) and they are not overweight, but I can see problems in the future. I try very hard not to buy stuff they shouldn't be eating, I try to find foods that are enjoyable but healthy as a snack. They also have a rule that they can eat fruit and veggies as they please, but anything else has to be cleared through us.

I don't want to cause "eating concerns" with them at a young age, I just want them to learn to make good choices, how choices affect their body, how playing outside, riding bikes, skateboarding, etc is good for them and that when they do get a snack, a little is enough.

I wish my mom would have taught me how to eat, instead food was used for rewards and pleasure, not as a means of nutrition. My mother was always on a diet, depriving herself of something, then binging. We never had discussion on how to eat right, it was just a fact that as an adult you shouldn't eat and if you did, you should feel guilty about it, but kids can have all the junk they want! Since I didn't want to be like my mom, I ate until my heart was content!

I have a little experience here too. My DD was a chunky monkey starting around age 8. I have worked to educate her on healthy foods and the importance of moderation. Thankfully, she prefers good foods to junk for the most part although she eats her share of pizza and sweets. She has not gained weight since about 5th or 6th grade, in fact when she joined the athletics program at her school she dropped a couple of sizes. This year when we went for her phys her Dr was ecstatic at her healthy new weight and labs and was very pleased with her exercising. As she explnd to me for her ht, wt, age it was best not to let her diet but to teach her healthy habits and it has def paid off. I worry about the whole eating disorder thing too, so I try to really watch my attitude and what I say. They say that boys are being affected by eating disorders too, so the journey we are on is really important for the health of our whole families. I think I posted previously about DS, his labs came back within normal limits for cholestrol, etc. I was very thankful for that! Now, to get DH down to normal.....

POOPOO,
I too have a 10 year old.. He is rather heavy for his height. 135 lbs.but its so hard not to try to protect our kids from obesity.. I try to let him make healthy choices, but when not in my presence he chooses badly!!!
it makes me very nervous since i was a closet eater all my life!!
how did she lose the 10 lbs???
hubby says it will come off when he hits puberty, but i'm not so sure about that idea!!

LOL,
