Default a couple of concerns...

ok so i think the anti depressants ARE giving me the munchies. and i think its happening while i am half asleep at night things are disappearing lol. i think i have had enough...

i think there is something wrong as well. i had OJ the other day for the first time. and i felt the burn literally. then the queasies for the rest of the day. and im noticing everytime i eat it burns. no matter what im eating. i feel it right when it "hits". of course i called the dr's office yesterday and was rushed off the phone after being tld to take tums....um. is that right??

my final concern is that i fear i am a miralax addict LOL! if there is such a thing. in fact i cannot go to the bathroom without it. i find that if i dont take it, its takes me like 4 days to go. if i take it everyday, i go everyother day and i have no discomfort. once every 4 days tends to be a little uncomfortable in the lower abdominal area OR my back on the sides hurts. i cant really describe it. it gets "hard" and i get gassy...hmmm, maybe too much info. i am hoping (not the way it sounds) that someone else knows what im talking about here. what do i do? i eat salad everyday and some form or other of cooked veggie as well. so i cant say im NOT eating veggies. but every 4 days is not cool. am i not eating enough to move things along?...i'm LOST once again.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

In my "previous life" I would get up at night with munchies and eat stuff and go back to bed -- generally not a good idea.....

I def "go" less now than I used to. I eat oatmeal pretty much daily. Do you eat fruit? I think that helps me - apples are special

I Really Hate The Way Your Doc Office Treats You Everytime You Call Them!!!!!!!! You Need To Go Off On Them And Say You Want To Be Seen!!! Esp It This Concerns You. I Just Never Heard Of A Doc Office That Keeps Putting Their Patients Off Like That.

Antidepressnants do increase your appetite, so you could be right about your munchies there. Have you talked with your dr and reduced the dosage?

Eating in the middle of the night to ease your queasy pouch can be a symptom of ulcer. Personally, I think it's wrong that your surgeon's office brushed you off, if they said try Tum, then they should have followed with the comment, "for a couple of days, and if things don't improve, call us again, we'll arrange for an endoscopy."

I wouldn't worry too much about Miralax, a lot of post ops do have trouble with BM, so if you feel that you are taking miralax too often, then compbine it with other things like smooth move tea, and fiber products and other things that help you with your BM.

P.S. Good points and good Qs. Moving this to the Stupid Q forum.

Not quite famliar with what the "burn" is yet, Kenya. Hoping I won't get familiar with it because it doesn't sound nice. Still desperately tossing around the idea of an antidepressant. Looks like its heading in that direction because my days are becoming extremely hard to push through, and my sleep schedule is all messed up.
However, the Miralax, yes. I take that every two days because I am literally scared to death to have another experience with constipation like I did. It lasted a week and hurt worse than anything ever! I think I am addicted to it too because the only time I go is the morning after I take it usually. So, every third morning about. I don't think its harmful, but I see my surgeon on Monday and Ill ask him about the body getting to used to the Miralax and if a BM then can occur regularly without it. Ill let you know what he says.
I hope that burning subsides on its own soon. Otherwise keep bugging that Dr.s office!

edie i dont even think my doc knows im calling which would explain alot
doc i dont eat to sooth it, when i eat it burns BUT i am finding myself snacking at like 2 am and yes it burns then too! lol. i feel like i am losing my mind honestly. i am good in terms of the deperession. never felt better. not trying to stop taking them but cut back or something...my pcp prescribed them and wants me on the 20mg for the 3 mos as prescribed. i have a little less than another month to go. then we meet again and possibly reduce. but geez by then i will have gained all 114lbs back LOL!! i DONT want to eat all and all night long ever again in life. but im kind of in zombie mode when it happends. cant say im "sleepwalking" but heck, i had NO IDEA i was munching until i saw empties on the nightstand. thats a dead giveaway huh. lol.

stevesgirl, if you think you need them, get them. dont wait. it takes a while to tweak the dosage. dont struggle when you dont have to.

maybe i was just 1/2 asleep when eating. i remember last night i got up for brownie bites. 100 calorie pack ofcourse. and it burned. and i rocked myself to sleep cuz i just felt awful. its like that not matter when or what i eat the past few days. then it moves into a queasy kind of thing. then it passes. i can drink fine. coffee, juice, water is all fine. i dont get it. doc if i had an ulcer EVERYTHING would hurt, right?

I'm sorry you're going through this. The burning sounds like something I would force my way into the doc's office to discuss. Don't let them brush you off, get BITCHY! This is your health we're talking about.
As for the miralax, I didn't think it was bad to take it so often and doc pretty much confirmed it, so I think if it makes you feel better - go for it!
As for the antidepressants - would they consider switching you to wellbutrin? It's supposed to have something like an appetite suppressant in it. I believe you mentioned before that you were on lexapro and I gained well over 40 lbs on that. Definite munchies!!!

Ulcers don't necessarily hurt all the time, or hurt with everything. You just may be eating unconsciously, just to ease the *hunger* which is actually a very low grade of irritation/pain from the ruffled up surface of your pouch.

When Lisa/friendly2 had her ulcer, she didn't experience any *pain*, just a return of *hunger* which she thought was normal for her stage. It wasn't until she some yucky looking stuff that she realized somthing was wrong and caught me online. I told her to get in touch with her surgeon pronto, even though she was saying that she had her daycare kids, I said that her issue came first. Sure enough...

There was another member a while back who said that she woke up in the middle of the night with an irritated pouch and drank milk to sooth it, and gained back a fee lbs. Advised her to go to her dr--another ulcer case.

Ulcers can be easily taken care of with the right meds, but you do need to have it diagnosed as quickly as you can, as it will throw a curve in your eathing.

You sure need to to something about the staff in your dr's office.
