Default Stupid question alert

Hey all,

Now that I've been here for a few weeks I feel it's time to ask a stupid question so here goes.

We all know our "plumbing" gets an overhaul after gastric bypass surgery. So my question is, how do I put this tactfully, do the bowels still work the same after the surgery? For example, since digestion starts so much earlier am I going to be running to the restroom shortly after every meal? Or just using the restroom more frequently in general with all the water intake, etc. Am I the only one curious about this?

Anyway, I promise, no more stupid questions. Looking forward to your responses..

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hey Sloop,
I wondered this too....and now for me, it's pretty simple.
I don't go to the RR for a BM as often....I was VERY regular pre-op...a couple times a day....

Now....it was every few days.....
But, this week I've been more regular....every other...and a couple days in a row. I'm pleased.....and glad that I'm not going all of the time!!

Hope this is blunt enough for you....good luck with your system!! LOL

The basics of your system.
Food is digested and what you don't need leaves out your back door in 24-72 hours, and that doesn't really change. Some people to need a visit to the RR shortly after meals, but that isn't b/c the food is hitting your back door straight. The very act of ingesting food makes your entire system become more active, and helping the day or two old stuff travel and get out the back door.
With bypass, your plumbing is shorter, and some stuff isn't absorbed well, but basically, the movements are not affected.
The thing you have to watch out for is, rather than the squirts, it's the blockage. Because you eat less, especially in the early stage, there's little to encourage the move towards the back door. One of the reasons you need to take lots of water.
P.S. No need to worry about the stupid Qs, keep 'em coming!!

Here's mine for the day: Is odor worse? I know that's a gross question, but I have heard that it is.

WELL we are all different but my order has not changed.
I have heard feel they have become more stinky...
but there is a product out there to deorderize people
for such a situation. I dont need such.
I dont have gas issues from the lower end either.
I only seem to burp more after I eat......guess
we are all different.
IF you need the name of this personal deoderant i can find
it and share it, but i dont need hte product just read about it being used by a few folks.
ALSO a great product for constipation post op and natural is SMOOTH MOVE TEA available at GNC

My BMs still smell like roses
Actually after WLS I now use the fan and some air fragrance. Never needed it before.

Kat have you ever heard the song "Roses" by a group named Outkast?.....tooo funny. Love ya tons babes. I don't BM as much usually, and I haven't had the gas, burps or noticeable increase in smell factor to my knowledge. Either this is true or my own sense of smell has been affected too.
