this is not quite a poem but something that the poembandit wrote a few months ago that she is insisting to be shared. (freebird)

As Jonah tried to run from the will of God, the things that God wanted Him to do, so too I tried to run. I tried to shut out His voice when He spoke to my heart and ignore what I knew He wanted me to do.

As Jonah was thrown into the waves of the sea in a raging storm, iI too was thrown into the waves of the raging storm in the sea of life, and as Jonah was swallowed up into the belly of a whale, I too was swallowed up into the belly of the whale of the problems of the world.

I am now realizing that no matter how hard I try, I can not run from God, it was stupid of me to even try.

But God is a merciful and loving being. He has comforted my heart and soul in it's sorrow, he has blessed my life with love form those around me and shown His love to my heart. He has given me peace and hope when i was ready to give up, and given me reason to go on. He has put in my paththose who can help me best to accomplish the things that i must accomplish within my life. And one of the most wonderful things that i have come to know without a doubt is that in His infinite love God has allowed a path for me to follow and for every one of His children to follow that leads back to Him. It is not always easy and there are many sorrows on the way, and even though I may stray He has always brought me back to Him when i get to far from the path i need to follow.
