| Asking for prayers...O/T
My friend has a six month old great dane puppy - the prayers are for him, his name is Giddion. Some may think this is silly - you can stop reading now. Others will understand completely...
She got Giddion from a breeder - he is just 6 months old, he is goregous, his feet and head are huge - he has a big ol goofy grin and droopy eyes and gives the best kisses.
He has been going through bouts of growing pains - common with big breeds. Last week his most recent bout seemed to really be hurting him because he was moaning alot. Not being able to take that he was in pain, she took him in and they gave him a cortisone shot and a deremax (like aspirin). He went home and the moaning stopped. But in the middle of the night he asked to go out but had major trouble peeing - so in the morning she called the vet to ask if it could be the cortisone - they said not sure, bring him in. They ran blood work and immediately told her she had to rush him to a dog hospital (one that does stuff that just a regular vet can't do) because his blood work came back off the charts and his kidneys were failing (didn't know why, but get him where they can figure it out fast). This was yesterday - she was a mess - needed me to drive her - 2 hour drive, I never saw anything like this place - it's as big as a human hospital, all kinds of doctors and specialist on call, very impressive. Anyway, still don't know what is happening, they are running tests, she had to leave him there last night (we were there for 4 hours) because, regardless of what's causing it, if they didn't put him on IV and get the kidneys up again he would die within hours. Today they are still running tests, he has these two huge nodes on his neck that may be lymph nodes but they are saying they never saw anything like them and will only know if they biopsy, aspirating is not an option, but right now still just need to know what is going on and keep working on the kidneys. They are leaning towards congenitive kidney disease and if so he won't make it. I am driving her back down, visiting hours are between 5 and 7 pm. She is so sad, everyone is crying - he's just a pup. And besides that he may die, it's killing everyone that he is alone and afraid and doesn't know what's going on. When she calls to get an update they say he is trying to kiss everyone - which animals do when they are afraid.
Please pray - for him to either recover if it's possible, or at least to be at peace and painfree - God's will be done.
So upsetting - please say a prayer now, thanks - Denise

Denise, I am sitting here with tears in my eyes because I know your pets are just like children. I have a palmeranian that is 1 1/2 old now, but when we first got him, which was when he was barely 3 months old, we hadn't him but a week, and my daughter was gone to her dad's for the weekend. I went to get up out of the recliner and didn't realize that he was under the recliner. I went to the back of the house to look for him. He was so tiny then. Then, he only weighed 1 pound and 8 oz. Now, he is as big as he'll get and he weighs 8 pounds. Anyway, I couldn't find him anywhere in the house. When I came back down the hallway looking for him, I saw him halfway out from under the recliner where he had tried to get out when I was getting up. I am pinned him under the recliner when I was getting up and it had pinched his spinal cord. His eyes were already in the back of his head and he was barely breathing. I went crazy screaming. My husband did CPR on him all the way to the animal hospital. He ended up having to spend the night and hooked up to an I.V. They told us, if he lived, he would be paralyzed from him neck down but they weren't even sure he was going to live. Us and everybody we knew was praying for that little dog. Well, the next morning, they called and told me that they didn't know what happened, but that he was up running all over the place playing and he was ready to come home. To this day, I know that my God answered our prayers. I know my "Oreo" is my little miracle. I pray that your friend's dog is ok, and that God give your friend and everyone involved the knowledge, peace and comfort that they need. Please keep us posted as to what's going on and how Giddion is doing.

You have my prayers. My 5 pets are part of my family, and I'm sorry your friend is going through this with her precious puppy.

That is so sad. I'm definitely praying for her. It breaks my heart to think he's so scared and so young.
And Christy that is such a heart warming story. You should send it to Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's soul. It's always nice to read a 'feel good' story.
