Hi W L family, just wanted everyone to know that I got word earlier in the week that my favorite aunt, whose 94 years old, looks 65-70 and still drives, had a stroke. I'm leaving this afternoon to go see her. My family reunion is next week, and it won't be the same without her being there. She's one of 2 "original" patriarchs of the family, and I can't remember a reunion when she wasn't there, even if she was sick. My uncle, the other living patriarch of the family, won't be able to attend either--he's bed-ridden. Needless to say, it will be a "strange" reunion, but we've got to give thanks that we had them there when they were able to come. Thanks for listening, and I'll be back next week.

Im praying for your Aunt honey. I hope she is resting and can be comfortable. Can you imagine what she has seen in her last 94 years? It would be amazing to listen to her to say the least. Take care.

Thanks everyone for all the prayers and support. I drove my parents to Williamsburg on Saturday to visit my uncle, and then to Norfolk Saturday evening to spend the night and visit my aunt on Sunday morning. Needless to say it was a tiring weekend, but I got a chance to see my aunt. (Can you believe I was less than 2 miles from a mall and didn't feel like shopping. You know I was tired  ) My aunt is doing better than I expected, and was very glad to see us, and didn't want us to leave. Her biggest issue is not even her stroke, it's her diabetes. She won't eat like she's supposed to. On top of that, she has 1 son, and he hardly takes care of her. I loved spending that time with her listening about old times and treating her like the child instead of me. She really wants to come to the reunion this weekend, but I know it will be too much for her to try to come. I know the reunion will not be the same without her, but I feel good that I had good quality time with her this past weekend.
My uncle is bed-ridden but his mind is very sharp. He talked about old times as well, times with his father and his younger siblings. You can tell he's getting weaker, but refuses to give up. He's 87 and my aunt is 94.
I would just like to tell everyone to cherish your family members. You never know when they won't be around for you. I'm a very family oriented person, and find it hard when people state they can't stand their parents, siblings, or other extended family. When all else is gone, all we have is family, and your family should be the most important thing in your life, next to GOD.
