Talking Joel Osteen? Opinions...

Goodmorning everyone. I am just writing this because in the last couple of weeks I have been catching the broadcast of Joel Osteen. I am really enjoying listening to what he says. I was raised Catholic, and I am raising my children Catholic however I have not been to Church in a while. This has brought me back to thinking I need to go to Church more often. I know that many of you are very much into your religion here. What do you think of Joel Osteen, have you listened to him? I just feel like he touches something in me....
I am also considering putting my children in Catholic school in September. I was brought up in a Catholic school. Just alot of new thinking again on my part. Just wanted to share and get some thoughts. Have a great day and thanks again for listening.

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hmmm, don't know him, well, obviously, I can't catch him here.
That said, I'm Catholic as well, and likewise, haven't been to Church in a while...The last church I was in was in one of the historic missions in San Antonio, come to think of it, when I was visiting CraigT and Leslie. Every year, I think, I must make it into Church for Easter and Christmas, at least...and never make it....
However, at the same time,

The Earth is my alter,
The sky is my dome,
My heart is full of glory,
For my trust shall never falter,
My faith never roam.

I do keep a little prayer book in my purse...

Russ and I were just talkin about private school for Isabella....possibly Catholic School. We are not Catholic - just non-denominational - but, ya never know these days...and it's nice to think of your "precious cargo" in an environment that is rooted in God.

About Joel Osteen....the first time I heard him - or, of him was when Barbara Walters did her interview with him....he seems very sensible...and like a "good guy"...(the only part I wonder about is when they encourage people to give their $$ promising a miracle. - I'm not against tithing and giving to charity.)

But...FYI, he's coming to NYC this October...did you know that??

Yes I did see that he is going to be in Madison Square Garden and was thinking of getting tickets. I think my aunt is she loves him. As far as the money thing, well even the Catholic Church begs for money at least 2 times during the mass..lol....I did find that He offers FREE Podcasts that you can download from I Tunes......dont have to pay a cent for them. I did like that. I dont know what it is with him but he caught my attention.

As far as the Catholic School there are pros and cons as with the public schools. But I really think that they need some base religion and then they can decide later in life what they want to do with it. When i lived on Long Island i just couldnt afford Catholic School because i had to many other bills to pay. So we sent the older 2 to public school and took them to religion classes once a week. For them it worked but now that we are back in the city I am really thinking the money is so worth the kind of education they will get with religion included in it.....I will keep you updated on what we eventually decide...

Thanks for your responses...

Default Regarding Joel Osteen.....

Hi there, I began watching Joel Osteen last Summer and I truly enjoy listening to his words of wisdom and teachings. He's a very insightful man and he makes everything very plain and easy to understand. I also receive his daily emails and correspondence via that old pony we call the USPS. Every time I hear him speak I learn and that is what I look for in a Spiritual Leader. I do not want to call him a Preacher because I view Preachers very differently. I look at Joel as more of a Teacher if you understand where I am coming from. I grew up a PK (Pastor's Kid) and although I love my father dearly (now decesased), he was more of a Preacher than a Teacher. I've learned so much more through contemporary worship and teachings and it has caused me to grow spiritually. I would love to be able to attend Joel's teachings and I plan to do so the next time he is in Raleigh, NC or a City close by. Continue watching. I hope you continue to enjoy him as I have.

Nikki
