I remember where I was the day of the bombing. I was at College and in the Library. Everyone was pushing and shoving to get the to a television. I live in Oklahoma--about 3 hours away from the city.
I notice that you are in New York? How far are you from where the 9-11 attacks took place?

I remember where I was at when the 9-11 attacks occured. I had just had a big fight with the husband and got to work. I was crying, 7 months pregnant and just depressed. Then he called me at work, in tears telling me how much he loved me and to come back home.

Hi everyone. I remember where i was when the Oaklahoma bombing took place. I was in my living room and I had just started to have some pains, I was pregnant with my daughter and over due. I ended up having her the 21st but remember clearly watching it on tv with my dad. Was so sad.

I was living on Long Island the time of the 911 tragedy however my family all lived here in the city. The twin towers were visable from my mothers balcony. Even worse my mother worked in tower two for aon insurance company on the 92nd floor. However she was on vacation that week. God spared her life but took someone from us that was like an aunt. My moms best friend from as far back as her school days Molly. She was so close with my mother, she went to work every day with her, she attended every event in both my life and my childrens life, every holiday everything. She was like family. Along with her my mother lost all of her friends, all of the people she hung out with after work at during work. It was and still is hard for us . She is very sick these days and most of it started after 911. The guilt, the depression and all that goes with the survival. She has good days and bad days. Lots of therapy. But she was spared for a reason, a year after the tragedy my 3rd child was born and a year after that my 4th. They are very close with grandma as well as my two older and I think that is what keeps her going. We have to always remember things like this. It is easy for people to forget if it didnt touch them personally. I have a picture of Molly on my TV and all of my children are reminded that Molly is our guardian angel all the time.

Remembering that day, is pretty awful. I can only imagine how it was, and probably still is for the families. I certainly did say a prayer for all of them. Most of them probably even now, need support in a big way.

I'd just looked over the forum and saw your thread. Those of us in OKC find the upcoming weeks before that date harder to cope with as we all remember that heart stopping moment. The fence becomes loaded with items from visitors from near and far.
Interestingly I'd posted on another site on the okla. forum about remembering the workers and that there are many heros from that day not just the publicized ones etc. No one ever even commented from that site at all. Surprised me really.
Many, many of those firemen, ems and police who are sent invitations to join in the ceremonies refuse to go. Those who most would think would be most worthy to be there still blame themselves for the ones they didn't get to in time to save.
This type of violent act is one that is far reaching and the hurts it causes never ends and is nevernending.
The morning after the ceremonies I woke up to the radio station DJs talking about the ducks in the reflecting pool. There is a pair of Mallards that come back every single year and nest somewhere close by, we don't know where for sure. But they raise their ducklings each year in the reflecting pool. Some wonder why don't the park rangers there chase 'em off?
The DJs said they thought it was a wonderful message of how life goes on. That's it exactly...life goes on in spite of terrible tragedies, terrible horrible unimaginable acts and nature finds a way to remind us of this...those babies swimming in water so shallow they can't even swim properly and their little legs stick out behind them while they float along with Momma..it's a sweet thing to see.
A simple reminder - live life to the fullest, love deeply and have no regrets
