Default Gall Bladder removal moved up to today

Hi all...
I really don't know where to start...moved to take back my old job. Was not happy and had another opportunity to literally drop in my lap. God has had a way of doing this. I feel like the blind that stumbles into situations that better me. Anyway, I decided to take this new job and turned in my notice. I was going to have my gall bladder removed next week and use the 4th holiday and a couple of paid days off to recover, go back to work through until my resignation date. Anyway, my employer (the 2nd time at the old job) sent an email on Monday stating that I would only work until the end of this week and no longer needed. As this is what can be considered the probation period (I have not been there this time 3 months yet), they can do this. I cheats me out of some time off, the beginning of my benefits (so I cannot get them and continue them through COBRA), and put me at risk of no income for another 3 wks. Anyway, I managed to get my start date moved up by 2 wks. I also am having gall bladder removal today instead of next week. This will give me almost 2 wks to heal before I start my new job. I feel a bit unprepared, and request prayers for (1) safe surgery (2) speedy recovery (3) my new job (4) minimal distress with all these changes.

Thanks all....

The gall bladder was supposed to come out during the RNY procedure, but the doc was afraid of increasing infection risk, so didn't. He then wanted to do it in January/February. Between me and my primary doc's thoughts...we thought it was too soon to undergo anesthesia again. So, I decided to wait and give my body six months to recover from the RNY. The employer was well aware of this before my coming back. I had already been approved for paid time off! Besides the intermittent twinges and indigestion and bloating, I really have had it lucky compared to others with full attacks. I was having a lot of gastric distress after the bomb of the email telling me I'd be unemployed at the end of this week. Initially I thought it was a stress reaction, but looks like gall bladder symptoms. Hopefully this will correct it and I'll be ready to go on my new job in less than two weeks.

Thanks again for the prayers...
Melanie

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Hey Mel,
Wow it is so much to think about. Isn't it?
I have heard some docs will do the RNY and By pass removal at the same time.
Others won't.. "dirty surgery= infection risk"...just what you said.
I think your doc is right... take some time in between surgeries.. however, once the GB acts up it can be so horrible thatnothing but removal will help you.
I had one GB attack - was rushed to the hospital and it was removed pronto!
(This was years before the RNY though.) Not having it was one less complication for RNY though.
I hope it goes smoothly for you.
Good luck with the new job.
