Default My Story

I was so happy to see this thread. I wanted to share with you all how God has worked in my life once I let Him. For 9 years I suffered from infertility, we tried everything and knew that we wanted to adopt, but it seemed so out of reach due to cost. One day, my mom came to me and said, "I have found you a little girl." We looked at her like she was crazy. She had been with a friend in a town two hours away while she was getting her hair cut, and mom saw a picture on the hairdresser's mirror and said, "that little girl looks a lot like my daughter." The hairdresser replied, "She is my foster child and she will be available for adoption soon." Mom went with her friend every month and every month came home with stories about the little girl. Finally, she came home with a picture and I knew that was my little girl.

I started to work on bringing her home. It was not easy. We had to cross state lines and state social services, we had to get certified, we had to wait on parental rights to be terminated. There were times when all I could do was cry, and after months of pleading from my mom to come to her church, I went one Sunday in August and the preacher's message was for me. He talked about letting go of all of the past disappointments and how important it was to trust in God. How we could begin again with our faith in God if only you would let Him in and trust Him. I cried and knew that sermon was for me and as I made my way to the altar, I grabbed my mom's hand. I gave my life to Christ that day again and ever since then, have had the great pleasure of watching Him work in my life.

After that, things fell in place in my life. Our little girl came home in October, we are signing the final order of adoption next week, and our life is blessed. I was baptized in October and I am raising my child with Christ. Our preacher came to our house a few weeks after she came home and prayed for her and our family. He blessed our house and our family, and I know I owe my blessings to God.

My faith in God has also made this decision to have surgery easier. When my husband had it two years ago, I said I would NEVER have this surgery. I started praying in December for the knowledge of how to lose this weight, and the wisdom on how to fight this battle with food. After months of praying, God spoke to me and eased my fears of having surgery and I made the call. My preacher is aware of my decision and I tell all of my prayer warriors to pray. I am amazed of what can happen if you just trust in God.
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." (Joshua 1:9)

I just wanted to share this story with you all. I hope it helps someone.

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Congratulations. I know you will be a happy family. I have one adopted child. She is my over achiever...lol. We brought her home from the hospital when she was 48 hours old. She is grown now. Her husban is a youth minister and they have one child. God blessed me greatly when he gave her to me.

What a beautiful story. I work with foster children and it makes me so happy when i hear of a child being adopted by a loving family. There are so many out there . Many go all over, searching and searching in different countries and stuff however we have so so so many right here that need loving homes. God bless anyone who adopts a child and gives them a loving family and home to grow up in. Its a special thing.

I have a story like yours. My youngest daughter who is now 14 was adopted at birth. I got married to my husband but it was my second marriage and I had two children but he had never had any biological children. When we got married my children were ages 4-6 so they were young but not infants so I wanted him to be able to experience that. So we prayed and prayed because I had my tubes tied and could no longer have children. We were young and he did not make much money then. Anyway to make a long story short it took us 10 years but God came through for us. We became foster parents first and did have our hearts wounded when we had to give one back but then the second child was our daughter and it was all God moving for us. Things went so smoothly and my little princes is now ALL MOUTH!!! MY oldest daughter is actually as I write this awaiting a phone call about a baby girl who is 2 years that she may be adopting. It could be place with her as early as today. God is so good to us.

But I praise God everyday for his answer to prayers and for taking me just as I am. No matter how much I fail him he is always faithful to me and to my family. Congrats on you little one and God bless your family!!!

Genmel,
Thank you for sharing your story. God always leads us where we need to go and I needed to come here I am scheduled for surgery July 10th which is something I dont take lightly, but when I went for pre-op my ECG was borderline so I am a little freaked out. They didn't seem overly concerned did a couple of extra tests and sent me on my way. At any rate, I feel confident that of all the posts I could have landed on He sent me to you! Joshua 1:9 is my new "name it and claim it" verse! A personal message, if you will. Thank you for being a blessing!

All Of Your Stories Have Touched Me. I Have Such A Weakness For Children. They Are Just So Precious.

Seven Years Ago I Had Emergency Surgery To Remove Very Large And Infected Fibroyd Tumas. After That I Was Told It Was Uncertain If I Could Have Children. I Felt Like My Life Had Just Ended Because The Thing I Wanted Most In Life Was A House Full Of Children. 2 Years Ago My Husband And I After Trying For A While Decided To See A Specialist To Assist Us In Having A Child. Well They Started Runing Tests, Etc And Dont You Know Without The Help Of The Specialist I Had Found Out I Was Pregnant. No One Could Believe I Was Pregnant It Was Like A Miracle. It Was A Rough 9 Months It Was All Touch And Go And Very Scary Because I Didnt Know If We Were Going To Lose Her Or Not. But I Prayed Every Night And Day Soooo Hard. On June 1st 2006 God Blessed Us With A Healthy Little Girl. Sometimes I Look At Her And Still Cant Believe It. I Pray That God Will Bless Us One More Time. For The Past 8 Months I Have Been Trying To Have An Other One. That Is An Other Reason Why I Decided To Have This Surgery In Recent Years I Had Gained Alot Of Weight And My Doc Had Mentioned My Chances Would Be Better And Safer If I Were To Lose This Weight. Plus I Would Be Able To Carry The Baby More Comfortably Because Right Now Im Not Even Pregnant And Im Just So Uncomfortable.

Thank God For Miracles.
