Default Inspiring weekend

So, thursday night, my best friend and I headed to WV to attend a Relay for Life wrap-up meeting. This was my first year involved in Relay, and this was the first meeting I had been able to attend. At the beginning of the meeting, they announced to make sure that everyone there put their name in a box as there would be a drawing for a price worth $400. Let me preface this story by stating that I never win anything. Ever. Ever.
Nonetheless, I put my name in the box and as I took my seat, I thought to myself, "God, if you want me to have this weight loss surgery, give me a sign by letting me win this drawing." As soon as that little prayer crossed my mind, my very next thought was, "You idiot, you can't make deals like that with God!" An hour later, I had won the raffle. Hmmmmm......

Right after this meeting, the friend and I headed to the metro station near the city as we were staying two nights in Washington DC for the Women of Faith conference. We sat at the pre-conference on Friday morning with Beth Moore as our speaker and she was incredible. I had never heard her speak before and it won't be something I soon forget! But early that afternoon, she said something that touched me deeply in regards to my trying to decide if I should have this surgery. See, I am crazy about God, but yet I'm not one of those totally in your face christians, but yet when I am at women's conference, I want to get my God on, if you know what I mean. The problem is that my weight makes me so self conscience, that I am afraid of being noticed. So when everyone else is shouting out "Amens" or raising their hands in praise during the worship team music, I just sit quietly singing, even when everything in me wants to be on my feet with my hands raised, worshipping.

Anyway, so Beth says something to the extent of "Whatever is keeping you from serving God in the capacity you want to serve him, you need to ask him to help you remove it."

Hello? My weight holds me back from so many things! Serving God in the capacity I feel called to serve him is definately one of them!

Anyway, I just wanted to share these little things with you after my weekend.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

exactly sister!!

Isn't it wonderful when God not only whispers an important realization but also kinda hits ya on the head with it too?

I truly, deeply believe that GOD uses this surgery to change people lives, inner AND outer.

What an amazing story! I felt the same way before surgery. I wanted to get up and sing. My pastor kept bugging me because everyone knew I used to sing, but I didn't want to because of my size. So, the week before surgery, I went to the altar and told God I was ashamed of myself for not loving Him enough to get over my own insecurities and I put my life in His hands. A peace came over me then and I knew I would be alright.

Never underestimate what He is capable of doing. Like Bree said, some times he clubs you over the head.

Default women in faith

How was the women in faith conference---I live in Chambersburg,PA (not far from you)and my church attends with a group of women every year ---I am not able to attend this weekend because I just had my surgery on 6/28 and still am recovering and didn't know how I would get to go......God has a purpose for everything---GOOD & BAD Just like you--every time I ran into a snag with my surgery, it seemed God provided a solution.

Isn't it great ---GOD IS SOOOOO GOOD

Now that I have had my surgery I don't fret about the "Gluttony" issues any more ---for some reason it really effected me before but not now.

Aaaahh I'm just speechless...

With all the religion diversity, it just stunned me how the human being are so hungry for God worshipping. There is a gigantic desire to praise the God who's behind this life!

Women I thank you all for reminding me to thank God that I lived another day healthy and happy. May our God grant us all our wishes and show us the right path (Amen)

Thanks Kim for sharing this lovely story, keep your faith strong sister!
I'm sure God hears your silent heart whispers too even if you don't say them!

God is so merciful

Love,
Hanadi

Thank you, ladies for your words of encouragement! I have felt much more certain of this decision since returning home yesterday! My biggest fear was not the life changes involved after surgery, it was the actual undergoing surgery! But after this weekend, I have been reminded that someone is always with me through all of it!

The conference was amazing, but is always is. This is probably my 6th year going but the last two years, I have taken friends as my mother, who used to attend with me, has gotten too old to want to deal with all the people! The friend I took this year had never been before, and has spent the last year and a half fighting oral cancer (she is currently in remission..she's only 39!) and she had a wonderful time!

Very nice to know someone who lives so close!! What surgeon are you using?
