Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | A 'G' forum, wow, now this is good. Unfortunately, sometimes to appreciate where we (I) are (am) you (I) have to relive a little 'trauma drama' which is not something I necessarily 'like' to do because doing so puts focus on the 'bad' and I've learned (or am learning daily) to put the focus on the 'good.' So, here's the short version of where I was and where I am now: I retired after 28 years working in State Government in September 2002. I went from doing something every day to having nothing to do -- quite a change to my system -- sometimes it's not easy to slow down. In October 2002 (a little over a month after I retired) my husband committed suicide; now I had nothing to do and NO ONE to do nothing with. I weighed nearly 300 lbs and my health sucked --- because of experiencing my husband's decision to committ suicide I knew that WAS NOT an option, however, I felt as if I had no PURPOSE for even getting out of bed. Why should I. But, God put in my life some wonderful family and friends who were always there for me. Again, the short version --- now, I have 'professional' freedom; I'm a mortgage consultant in Kentucky and a distributor for a company whose products are beneficial to WLS patients (if you want to know more about these you'll have to contact me directly at wlsbobbie@yahoo.com). These 'jobs' (or, a more correct term, these 'multiple streams of income') affords me the opportunity to do with my time as I please. And, of course, approximately one year after retiring I had the RNY Gastric Bypass Surgery (9/29/03) -- I've lost 115 lbs and my health is so extremely improved. You know, I used to hear the words all the time, "If you would just loose weight you'd have so much more energy and feel so much better." Now, I don't consider myself a 'stupid' person, and I know the 'meaning' of the words, "energy' and 'feel better' -- however, it was not until I lost the weight did I have an UNDERSTANDING of those words. I wish there was some way I could 'lay hands' on any obese person and give them an 'understanding' -- they would do ANYTHING it took to lose the weight to 'have more energy and feel better' -- words cannot convey the differece -- I say all the time, "I just keep getting younger every day." I believe I do -- and people tell me, "you look so much younger." As of January of this year I began a relationship with a man I've known for 30 years (yes, he knew me when I was a blimp and liked me even then). Although we had been friends (his family has known my family as neighbors) it wasn't until he got his divorce last year that our friendship grew into this ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVEABLE LOVE. Now, I am ON TOP OF THE WORLD. As I look back I see God's hand in my life all the way. I see how I had to experience the 'down' to really appreciate the 'up' --- I WILL NEVER BE DOWN AGAIN. I have this daily affrimation that goes, "Thank you God, I am so very grateful that the desires of my heart, those known and those unknown, come to me easily and effortlessy, always and in all ways, ways expected and ways unexpected, and in a timely manner." Have you ever watched the movie, "The Secret?" It's one of my favorites. It says to, "ask, believe, receive" -- which translates in my mind to 'prayer.' No matter how you translate it, no matter how you say it, it's all the same thing -- GOD, UNIVERSE, HIGHER BEING, HIGHER SELF -- are all the same. I BELIEVE it's true you, "Ask and it is Given" -- and the reason I say in my affrimation, "grateful that the desires of my heart, those known and those unknown" -- is because when I ask for a desire of my heart (the known) I believe I'm going to receive it, and I ALWAYS do. Receiving those KNOWN desires are WONDERFUL. It's those UNKNOWN desires that God sends my way that are ABSOLUTELY PHENOMINAL -- they blow me right out of my shoes -- like my current relationship -- I had no idea that a 'relationship' would make me this happy because the relationship with my late husband had been so painful I ran from the idea of ever having anyone in my life again - but, OH MY GOD, the LOVE, PEACE, CONTENTMENT, ABSOLUTE JOY, COMPLETE HAPPINESS, WOW -- LIFE IS GOOD -- and I wish each and every one of you the experience of GOOD LIFE.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Bobbie....thank you SO much for that!!! That was very touching and I really do believe in what you were saying. I am sooo ready to be "happy". And I mean REALLY happy and content with life. I've had so many struggles in my lifetime that you really forget what happy feels like. Sure we get a 'taste' of it here and there. But to wake up, fully blessed, so happy to live, I don't have. And it's a shame because most of us just go thru life, chosing our battles trying to make life a little easier to deal with. Your post really gave me some inspiration and hope. I pray that God brings the happiness that he's brought into your life, into mine. Thanks for sharing! |

| I know we have all been through some bumpy places in life. I think that's part of the reason why we all ended up needing to have this surgery. Anyway, I'm glad we all have each other to encourage each other now. I just found these boards yesterday and have been so encouraged. My surgery is scheduled on 9/28/07 and I'm hoping I do as great as everyone else I have seen posting on here. Thanks.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Thanks guys -- I appreciate the comments. I know no one thing works for EVERYONE, but 'tools' that have brought me to this point are listening to Anthony Robbins "get the edge" CD's, watching 'THE SECRET' movie, listening to Hay House Radio | Radio For The Soul | Listen Live to Hay House Authors | Homepage whose founder is Louise Hay, reading anything by Louise Hay, Esther and Jerry Hicks, Wayne Dyer (some of my favorite authors).

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Bobbie - I have seen The Secret several times and have the book - saw many of the speakers on the Oprah show as well. I also have read a lot of Wayne Dyer and Lousie Hay. All are inspiring authors and I am so happy for you that you turned your life around and as our minister says got out of God's way and let him work thru you and for you. I know your life seems to be so much fun and look at what you have done with it! Be proud. I look forward to some of the same experiences as I progress along the WLS path Judy
