A Christmas Story
(ok so i was going to save this one until Dec. but i couldn't)
Now I have a story that's not often told
of one poor man who died in the cold
He died from starvation so another could eat
Remember this story as you take your meat
He knows there's an angel sitting at his side
but he does not know why his angel has cried
He's lost his place in society
Only his angel remembers what he used to be
As he shivers out in the nighttime cold
He wishis for a loved one to hold
As he rests his head on his knee
he passes out from the hunger in his belly
In his pocket you'd find only a penny
Though long ago there used to be many
And his angel thinks it's such a crime
To go hungry at any time
Taking his hand the angel sends him a dream
Of Christmas time and what it's supposed to mean
He dreams of peace on earth, good will to men
And a tiny child born long ago in a stable's den
When he wakes he's still alone
But kindness has finally been shown
In his hand he finds a fifty dollar bill
And then he remembers his dreamof good will
Though he's cold and could use a good meal
He wants to make his dream become real
He buys a sweater for the lady living out of bags
Now she won't shiver in her old dirty rags
She gives him a hug and kisses his cheek
but still he can see that she too is weak
He gives her the money left in his hand
Though he himself from hunger can barely stand
His angel smiles as he walks away
He'll leave the earth shortly this day
He'll die for this good deed he has done
But in the heavens his reward he has won
Nobody will know but the one he made warm
And the man who long ago on this day was born
It's not just at Christmas we should remember the reason
But make all year round the Christmas season
