Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

so.. the doctor doesnt like the idea of surgery he said it's fro people 400, 500, 600 lbs people who can't exercise and whatnot.. and he said he would be dissappointed if a surgeon performed the surgery and they would be doing it to line their own pockets.. so.. does anyone know of any doctors in manitoba who may be more receptive to the surgery

Your dr does have a point about some surgeons doing it for the money, for there is big money involved in this area now.
That said, one way would be to look for information seminars sponsored by bariatric surgeons and bariatric clincs, attend them, and ask questions there. You are going to need the support of your PCP--primary care physician-- as well, so along with attenting the seminars, ask around for info on PCPs who have worked closely with such surgeons and clinics.
Keep in mind, though, the schedule you have in mind may not be the schedule that is planned for you. Everything will work out in time when you need it, in the way you need it.

Good luck honey. I am sorry you had such a negative reaction from the doctor and hope you come across the answer you are looking for soon.

I guess I don't agree with the doctor saying that the surgery is only for people that are 400lbs +
I would keep looking around and try to find another doctor that may have different opinions.
I know at 250lbs I couldn't lose the weight on my own after many years of failure. And I would of keep pursing it if my surgeon had told me I wasn't a canidate. At my appointment yesterday my blood pressure was already back in a normal range
So if this is something you truely believe you need don't give up (((((hugs))))

Wink Pamma.....

Sorry when I wrote my last post....somehow I missed your post about your disappointing apt with your doctor.

I know you must be sooo disappointed. I just wanted to let you know that when I left Dallas and my surgeon...my Doctor told me how to find another surgeon to follow up with.

I know your original appt. was with your PCP...but you can go directly to a surgeon...and I'd suggest you look thru the "American Society of Bariatric Physicians".... <----link

on the above site...there is an option where you can search for a doctor....just thought I'd let you know....
I too am looking for a new doctor here in NYC....and quick...October will be my 6mos. Post op anniversary...

Good luck to you...in finding the medical support you need to have the surgery!!
