Default Bone Desenty Test results 12/31/08

Bone lost , I read on the internet This was a new founding with weight lost surgery patients and it is true. I was having problems with muscles cramps at night in my legs and feet and I still do. I had read some where in they site maybe I wasn't drinking enought water and I know I don't do that....I started taking potassium vitamins hopeing that would help. I went for my one year checkup and had blood work done and they notice I was lacking Vitamin D every thing else was ok...yea!! Oh, by the way I am shorter now then was I was before surgery. I thought it was because I was losing weight and it made me look shorter. They sent me to have a Bone density test done and I got the Test results Back (I had bone lost) .They prescride me Vitamin D 50000 iu for 14 days then 1 a week . I have been taking calcium citrate vitamins 4 a day 500 mg with 200 iu of vitamin D since surgery the kind that asord in my system along with my other vitamins, But I quess it wasn't enought. So when you have blood work done ask them to check your vitamin D levels because of bone lost.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Yes, you definately should be followed for bone density at regular intervals post op. This may be more of a problem for woment compared to men, as women natrually have a tendency to lose bone density, and absorb calcium less, even with a normal stomach.
This is one minus side of surgery that needs to be followed closely.
Staying ahead of the game is a good thing.
