I had a VBG back in 2000. I did great at first - lost about 125lbs in a year. About two years ago I started gaining my weight back and having severe heartburn and reflux. The gastro I went to scoped me and said "Hehh, take Nexium"......
Well a year later things were worse and then I started having a sharp pain under my left rib cage. Went to the ER and they called in the specialist and come to find out I have numerous gastric fistulas along my staple line - the band around the opening has created a medium sized Hiatal Hernia - and the pain & discomfort from it all was just too much to bare.
I went to a doc, unaware that a "Revision" was in order - I just thought they were gonna fix the hernia and the fistuala's. Well my insurance Ok'd me right away because of the medical purpose of it all and I am scheduled for the RYB on Tuesday of next weeek. I am pretty darn nervous.
My previous surgery was old school and open so my Dr. is hope'n to do this one with the scope. He said there is a chance that once he gets in there, he may have to open me depending on the damage, but at this point I really don't care.
Let me know that you are still interested and I will give you an update when all is said and done!! Keep you fingers crossed!
