Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I had an open RYN and did fine. I am not a doctor or an expert in any way, but I would just assume it would have to be open to remove the band and they complete the RYN.

I think the bottom line is that if you're uncomfortable in any way, you should seek a surgeon's second opinon. This is a big step and you should feel comfortable with your decision.

We've had quite a few recently join us with a band heading for a revision to RNY. Never heard of anyone having to do it open, though!!

I guess the long-term success of this would depend a lot on why it was that the band didn't meet your needs. You may wish to explore that topic in greater depth with your health team to figure out if any changes are needed going into the new procedure.

Good luck!!

i already discussed this with my surgeon today and he was more about to do it open cuz of the adhesions that i might have "he said with lap its difficult for him to check them all" .. i told him already that my first option is to have it lap then if any complication he got the right to open ..
now im scared to get more scars .. plus i need to know more about it
thanks for ur supports

Hi there long time no see! I remember you from way back when. Good to see you again. Your surgeon is correct in stating what he or she did about the adhesions. They can be very dangerous if they get to bleeding and they dont see it. You look around on here and you can find what your looking for im sure.

I had the RNY to begin with so I didnt have to go back for another surgery like your looking into now. Good LUCK!

Hi there, good to see you.
Sorry to hear you need a revision.
We've a few people recently who had lap then revised to RNY.
If adhesion is not an issue, then, it's possible that the surgeon can go lap, but with lap band, there is sure to be adhesion since you have a foreign object in your abdominal cavity, which can make lap surgery dangerous. With present day techniques, the surgery scars, even with open, will eventually fade away enough not to be an issue in most cases.
Hope all goes well with you.

I had the revision from Lap Band to Bypass. My surgeon didn't have to open me up and everything was fine. How long have you had the band? I had mine for 3 years. I know the longer it's in the more adhesions you may have.

7 years is a long time. May I ask why you want it removed? If you're concerned about doing open RNY it couldn't hurt to go for a second opinion. Maybe it'll ease your worries.

Good luck!

oh im trying soo hard to get under 95 kg i tried everything but MY WEIGHT STOP THERE no matter what .. and i start gaining weight till now im 113 KG !!! im afraid that i will gain all the weight that i lost during this 7 years .. Gastric bypass will limit my sugar intakes "i got sweet tooth" .. and it work better than the lap band .. even though the doctor said most of patients who go from lapband to gastric do not loose alot of weight comparining to ppl who go directly to gastric bypass "i dunno why" but in all cases its better to do something and to be fit and more healthy ..
