Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I had my surgery in TJ Mexico on the 4th of March. I had MGB,umbilical hernia and Hiatal hernia surgery all that same day. The umbilical hernia is by far the most painful of the 3. The toatal cost was $9700. If I could do it over again i would have paid the extra $800 to have the sugery in Cancun because (with the same surgens) I think the facilaties are a little nicer. I am doing well and have lost 47lbs. curt

Default MGB in Mexico

Hi..I've been looking at MGB in Mexico. Notice several surgeons offering the procedure...but I have concerns about skill level. How many have they done?...etc etc. I'd be pleased to know which surgeon you used. Dr. Rutledge seems to be the leading authority on the procedure and his site is certainly the most detailed. I contacted him and he tells me that he has NOT proctored or trained any surgeons currently offering the MGB in Mexico.

Would appreciate your comments and sincere congradulations on your weight loss journey.

Can anyone tell me what the mgb is??? I am not sure about this one... He never did give any details on the actual surgery. It looks like he has done really well. Just curious.

Dixie,

Google it... There are a lot of websites about it. I'm too lazy this morning to cut and paste the info

Dixieladybug........There are a lot of sites devoted to the MGB.....but in a nutshell it is a modified RNY providing shorter surgery time...less complications. It is both restrictive and malabsorptive.

kburns........Thanks for your reply. Do you mind my asking what type of surgery you had and where?.....I can't help noticing on the board that you are 9 months post surgery and it is showing a loss of 14 lbs. You've had complications? Or is this info old??

No, I haven't had surgery yet. My start date was when I started the program with Kaiser in South San Francisco, Calif. Just trying to lose the 20+ lbs required for surgery. But, having quit smoking at the same time, it's been rough, I normally gain 20+lbs when I quit, this time I gained 10
