Default 2010 gastric bypass Post op troubles for those who have had surgery

I went in for a routine bypass on 2/5 and while my surgeon was in there, he found that my stomach was "cemented" to my posterior wall and my liver and pancreas were cemented to my stomach with scar tissue. A 3 hour surgery turned into 10. Instead of a few staples, I have a line down my abdomen. My dr was devastated because I was his first complication. I love my dr!!! I'm getting better day by day but can't wait to feel "normal" again.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I am 3 weeks and 3 days post op, and I can echo at this point is that it is major surgery. There is also a lot of maintaince post operative. You have to be prepared to follow the program. But that said, I would do it again and I would plan to join a forum such as this one because it tells you the "real people" truth. And when you are not at the MD they are here for you. It is a big decision and you are the biggest determinate for your success. Good luck.

I had surgery last week and the only problem I've had was an allergic reaction to Vicodin (never had a problem with it before) It made my arms and hands flare up and HURT like crazy. Other than that it's been smooth sailing but not easy, it just sort of makes you pull over to the slow lane for a while....I'm usually in the fast lane! - still, no regrets.

I have split the most recent posts from the original thread as the original thread is over 2 years old, and hadn't been posted in since.

I have a line down my abodomen also ,looks like railroad tracks...i faced pretty much what you did and then got very illl once out of surgery , was in ICU for 3 days then 5 more in hospital room...last week was my first fairly good week and now I think hubby and i have the flu or something , neither of us are feeling good , and i cant tell if it my pouch acting up or a flu bug..UGH.....good luck on this journey , it is quite an exp. for sure...some days i still wish i hadnt doen it , but then i read my sugar numbers and they are awesome , I am off insulin off junuvia and down to just metformin now, also off of two water pills...so on that good note , I guess I am happy over all with how my body is responding ,it just takes some of us longer than others to be able to feel "normal" , perhaps there is no such thing as NORMAL once you have WLS , we are a breed of our own now lol....hang in there !
