Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

The layout of your gut is unchanged, only the width of your stomach is smaller.
That means that the amount you can eat is restricted, but absorption is not. If your intake is high in fats, than can be absorbed quicker the with a normal stomach, and shoot your cholesterol level higher.
With RNY, part of the section where enzymes that break down fat for absorbtion is removed from the direct route, so, fat absorbtion is delayed and decreased, which makes it easier for the cholesterol level to come down.

Interesting! I have eaten more animal protien (mostly chicken, eggs and cheese) since the surgery and less fiber. Although my calories and intake are less the animal product is more. Any suggestions on ways to get it down doc??

Check out you protein-carb-fat balance utilising online food journals such as www.fitday.com.
Try to keep your fat intake below 30g per day. Also, get more fiber in, because fiber binds with fat and help discharge it from your body without it getting absorbed.

Thanks Doc, I do log my food on Spark People daily but I'm sure that my fat grams have been way higher than 30grams!
I appreciate your feedback.

Doc, my husband is trying to get himself in order since I have had gbs. What type of fiber can I suggest he pair with his higher than needed fat diet, to bring his cholesteral down? He is trying, so I want to help.
