Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Is he throwing up? Can he drink protein shakes? He needs go back to his surgeon for help. He could have a stricture or something else going on. If his surgeon doesn't take action then I'd be looking for another one.
Some people do lose that amount of weight quickly but he shouldn't be sick like he is either.
I hope you husband gets treatment and feels better soon... please let us know how he's doing. Hugs

I'm curious what he's trying to eat at 5 weeks out that is making him sick...and do you mean sick as in pain or in throwing up? At 5 weeks after the sleeve I was on a soft diet> high protein stuff like cottage cheese, yogurt, very thin sliced turkey (like sandwich meat). No bread/chips/crackers/rice at all. Soups, mashed potatoes, protein shakes were ok, but mashed pots fill me up too much to this day. That is what MY surgeon suggested. He might be eating too much at a time, he should only have up to 4oz of food at a time. No soda, no coffee, or tea. I found that I was nauseated when dehydrated as well. I hope this helps.

For one thing, men lose at a faster rate than women.
That said.
1) How well has he slowed down with his eating? He needs to chew his food to mush before swallowing, much the same as RNY bypass patients do.
2) As NR says, he may be trying out some types of foods his new stomach is not yet ready for, or eating too much at a time. In that case, he needs to backtrack on his food levels and amount. Check his notes from his nutritionist/dietician.
3) Sleevers do dump, though the number of people who do is less, and the amout that causes dumping is higher than those with RNY.
4) Ulcers and strictures are a concern. Though we don't see much discussion about strictures with sleevers, theoretically speaking, it can happen, so if his surgeon hasn't checked him out with endoscopy, maybe he needs it done.

Hope this helps.

I hope the vomiting stops soon and the surgeon is able to give you some definitive answers. I had to have my computer do a conversion from stone to pound - so that's about 42 pounds in 5 weeks... seems pretty consistent with others here on this site - especially since he's a guy.... but definitely talk to the surgeon about the vomiting
