Exclamation Need Help!

Hi! I'm going back to school to get my RN degree and I have to write a research paper for Anatomy & Physiology 1. I have decided to write it about Weightloss surgery. The title I came up with is Roux-en-y gastric bypass VS. Lap-band as an effective weightloss method. I personally have had the roux-en-y. I need links to where I can go to get research informantion on these surgeries. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
p.s any advice on HOW to write a research paper would help too. I never had to write a paper in LVN school. Thanks for your time and help.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

For how to write research papers, it's best to take a course on research writing.
Also read lots of medical research papers, these will give you an idea of how to set up your research, and how to collect and analyze data, and what points and how to discuss your results.

For references, I suggest you start your search with sites like Medline, PubMed, NIH, CDC, ABSB, and other like medical sites, to name a few--not commercial sites, but sites oriented towards the medical professionals.

Last but not least, congratulatiosn on your successful weight loss so far! Keep up the good work

Hi Renee! I just got out of school (Associates in Nursing) a little over a year ago and wrote WAYYY too many papers. A lot of times if you ask your teacher, they can give you an 'outline'. If they don't have it, you can go to your school's english department. They always have some kind of assistance available to help students write ANY paper. GOOD LUCK!! I think it's a great topic!

Thumbs up fellow RN

hey renee let me say first what a wonder profession you picked. nursing is truly a calling and it's wonderful you answered yours. resarch papers have changed a bit since i was in school, we had care plans and case reports which are now considered relicks. the internet would have been a great asset and you should take advantage of it.

i have one interesting tid bit for rouy-en-y vs lap band. a lot of people including myself have autoimmune disease and need wls. i have one called behcet's disease. it's an autimmune vasculitis. when i was first dx-ed i had different ports and foreign objects put into my body for blood draws and iv therapies. my body totally revolted against any object we put in. my immune system went nuts and attacked them, so when making the decision between the lap band and physically changing my digestive tract there was no debate for me. i knew already that if we put that lap band in my immune system wouldn't have it.

i thought maybe you could get a paragraph or two into your paper about this sort of issue which would help round out the paper. you can contact me anytime by e mail and i can provide specifics as to how my behcet's affected my decision and all the medical stuff to back it up.

good luck,
cangelski RN
