Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | My mom read an article in a Women's World magazine about a product called "Corvalen" that helps your body improve natural energy. Apprently it has helped alot people with debilitating diseases have enough energy to feel normal again. I looked it up at Bioenergy, Inc. and it is made of "Ribose" which is a type of sugar that your body cells make. If you get a chance, check this out and let me know what you think about it. I was wondering if we could benefit from it and whether or not it would cause "dumping" or not work properly due to the malabsorption. Since we take B12 for energy and metabolism this could be a plus too!! Thanks, Valyn |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Interesting....I'm anxious to see what doc says...the leary part of me says if it's sugar....we avoid it...but who knows.... I'm curious...you mentioned B12...and I don't take this regularly...is everyone else taking B12 regularly? I don't seem to have any problem with energy (unless I dont' get enough sleep). |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I take that back. I do take a vitamin called Trinsicon and that does have iron, B12 and something else in it. This is something my surgones office said I will take for life now to help with everything. But I do not take a seperate B12. |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I also take one SL tab daily. My FP also gave me as shot of it last month when I was feeling exhausted. I just had my 6 month labs done last week, so I will find out if I am low or not. Feeling tired, but I have been working over 90 hours a week since January 1st, that might have something to do with it!!

| Super Moderator | Truthfully, I would allways take these kinds of articles with a grain of salt if I were you. Ribose is a pentose, while glucose is a hexose, they are both carbs. Pentose means 5 carbons, hexose 6 carbons. So, while both are classed as carbs, they work differently, and as far as dumping goes, probably won't cause an issue, though I can't say for sure. As for the *favorable* effects, I wouldn't be surprised if one felt a difference as the web site touts, and bypass patients most likely will not absorb enough to make any difference. Quite honestly, there is no *miracle* medicine/supplement per se. Ask your surgeon or your nutritionist if they will recommend it to you before you try it out, if you intend to. Kath, VB12 is primarily for preventing anemia. It is vital in the absorption of iron. Take a look if VB12 is included in one of your vits or not. If you are getting it in, fine, if not, have you had your VB12 level checked? Have it checked if you haven't in the past, or if it was on the low end of normal the last time, and have it checked regularly, even if the level is fine right now. |
