Default Hair Loss...

Ok so I am going through what I would call major hair loss...by that I mean clumps of hair. I know that for some WLS patients it's normal, but I can't remember what I can take to make my hair grow back, or stop falling out. Can someone please help me?

Thanks,
Jolie

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

There isn't really a magic cure for it but I take Biotin twice a day to help with faster regrowth. It will stop soon. Just continue to get in all your portein and water.

JUST LIKE shelley said this is nothing you can do but ride this phase out.
I had it really bad...started between month 3 and 4 and only just slowed
down for me. THE good news is its a thinning, you wong go completely
bald...but its an upsetting effect from the rapid weight loss.

I took plenty of BIOTIN, 6 months pre op.
I used NIOXIN shampoo...and conditioner

HANG in there i know many of us took alot of pride in our hair
when heavy.....so it hits us very hard. BE well and keep getting
the protein levels in to help.

((((((HUGS)))))) Jolie, hair is the pride and major issue for women (well, for men, too I guess) but it will come back, once your weight stabilizes. Along with losing fat and everything bad, since lots of bad chemical stuff accumilates in your hair, think this way, you are losing all the bad stuff that got stored up in your body, so health wise, you'll get better and stronger hair with the new regrowth.
In the meanwhile, take care of your protein and vitamins, vital for the regrowth.

I have been experiencing a lot of it too lately and the husband likes to tease me about shedding with the kitty, but fortunately it isn't too bad yet to where I can tell a real difference. That being said I am a little more cautious about how often and long I brush my hair and how I wash it. I figure that there must be some pretty talented hair extension and weave hair dressers here in Jersey if it gets too bad, and I will just have to go that route if nothing else.

Hi all. I am now 4 months post-op and 70 lbs down. I think 40 of it is from loss of hair!!! Thank God I had thick hair to begin with. I discussed the hairloss with my doctor after everytime I shampooed I was coming up with literally a handful of hair ~ or when I combed/brushed my hair, it was falling everywhere. I knew it was going to happen, but I didn't expect it to be in this quantity. He assured me to just hang tight - that it would get better...I'm still waiting - but trying hard to get all my protein on board.

HEY KAT!!!

THIS is one of the difficult stages to go thru with our WLS.
I know for me until it happened to me I had no clue the impact it would
have on me. I hate to admit here this triggered the depression moods
to kick in for me and bad mood swings.

I know for me too i had very thick thick hair...cut i did loose a decent amount to the point on the top were i styled heavy the scalp was showing
thru. I can only
"REASSURE" that it does start to grow in and its not forever. FOR me
i was very strict the first year with my protein intake and still went thru
the hair loss the entire time i was LOOSEING WEIGHT. It only stopped for
me when my weight loss stopped. I did take biotin before surgery and took
it thru the stages of hair thinning which maybe thats why it has come back
in so nicely for me. THE top is full again but my bottom ends still need to
thicken up but takes time to grow back in from scratch.
((((HUG))))))))))
we all can relate to the heart ache this stage hits us with unexpectidly!
