Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Okay this question is going to be beneficial to me once I have my surgery but right now a friend has the question, She is 3 months post op and is having trouble getting in all her protein. Because of this she is very tired. What advice do you have for her? I know they make those protein shakes, with me I found one that I love already and plan to go with that. But is there anything else you can do for protein besides the protein shakes?

| Super Moderator | There are protein bars also, but maybe the best bet is protein powder. Many post ops say yuck with powder--don't like the taste, but there are powders with almost no taste that you can mix with your whatever you can eat or drink. Search other threads for protein, there are several threads on the subject that you'll probably find useful. (((((HUGS))))) for you and your friend.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I know for me every little thing i ate was built around protein. BESIDES protein shakes i used STALLONES protein puddings as snacks and mainly at meal time ate the protein only, being i filled so easily. I also used the carb countdown chocolate milk by HOOD (now names calaorie countdown) to boost my protein in drinks. I am one that prefers ready made shakes being there creamier, and for some that are picky but for me were to sweet sugar free carnation instant breakfast is recommended. I would eat cheese sticks as snacks always keeping PROTIEIN in mind when i ate. TO the point some felt i was obsessive but had to. PERHAPS her vitamin B is lo or dehydration causeing her some tireds. I find useing the NASCOBAL (b12 nasal spray) gives me alot of energy verses going for b12 shots. MY surgeon prescribed this for me. HUGs hope she is feeling better soon. I really didnt eat any rice, pasta, potatoes early out and only focused on foods with protein to keep my intakes high. Quaker makes bars that arent bad there granola bars called Q smart and they have 10 grams of protein. I am not sure if they would be to sweet for her at 3 months but they make a good protein snack for me further out.

Height: | Hey Lisa I will have to check out those bars by Quaker next time I go shopping. Have you ever tried the Luna for women bars? I have tried a couple and really like the lemon ones. They have 10 grams of protein too I think. Janae |

Height: | I really like the Luna ones...the Lemon one is just barely over my sugar intake so it is a good treat every once in awhile when I just can't stomach any more chocolate flavored protein supplements...lol. I miss lemon bars. They are one of my fave deserts ever...so this helps me with that craving. Janae |

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Hmmmm I could be wrong but im thinking i have scene the STALLONE PROTEIN puddings in LEMON! THEY are a great snack if you love the lemon. AND loaded with protein at 15 grams. GIVE a local GNC a call, i havent been there in a bit but some reason i recall lemon flavor which didnt appeal to my tastes im hooked on the banana cream flavor....

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | Thanks for all the responces, but now I have another question about this subject. The doctor wants me to have 50g of protein a day. Not bad but has anyone heard of protein pudding. I found it on the gnc website for 6.99 for a pack of 4, each are 20oz. I think this is expensive so i found them someplace else for 2.09 for 4! not bad I was thinking about tasting them since the are sugar free too. Im just trying to taste as much now so when the time comes Im not scrambling.... good Idea im assuming.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | JESSICA i feel the STALLONE protein pudding is worth every dime for it. TASTES good and is loaded with protein. I would buy it with the gold card at GNC at the begginning of the month. SOMETIMES the more i bought the more the store gave me a discount on it. BUT its worth it. I used it tons for snacks and breakfasts, early post op when i had the small appetitie. MY doctor requires 70 - 76 grams of protein daily so i needed products like that to help! hugzzzzz PS: i love the banana cream flavor
