| Report on Bariatric Nutrion
If you go to http://download.journals.elsevierhea...8908001639.pdf you can see a copy of an article titled "Bariatric Nutrition: Suggestions for the Surgical Weight Loss Patient". Saw it on another site, it's recent--March, 2008 and it address protein, minerals, vitamins levels etc. Kept a copy on my computer and just started reading it. Looks very good. Explains types of proteins in protein supplements and why some are better than others, etc. DAVE |

Just saw it about 30 minutes ago, printed it, and then posted here. I haven't read the whole thing by any means, but it seems like it covers a wide variety of issues for WLS patients. DAVE

All I know is not all proteins and vitamins are created equal. Be careful of over the counter as they are made for the general public and not made for the bariatric patient. I know that some patients have actually gotten sick due to high sugar levels and also deficiencies in certain vitamins.

Hate to sound stupid but what the heck. Is there a way to see this article without having to pay for it?

All medical journals are that way. Either you have to have a subscription to the journal or are a member of the society that publishes the journal, or pay for it article by article. I pay article by article if needs be, as I consider it professional courtesy.
Also, I have read the article and it is very good, but you will have to arm yourself with basic nutritional knowledge to understand it clearly--by this, I mean not fixiate and panic about one or another effect and side effect that's brought up , but be able to regard the good and the bad in the overall balance of things-- as the target of the article is nutritional and medical professionals. If you've been educated on some sort of basic nutrition, then it's easy enough to read.

Thanks! I think $5 is probably worth it.
