Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I eat "pure protein" bars, try to go for low sugar. What I like about them is that they're chewy and filling.

I like the pure protein...they are higher in calories...but the lower calorie bars (south beach/special K etc) don't have the higher protein count....I would rather get my protein from food (more filling).....I just found some whey bullets at walmart yesterday....the first bullets I've seen in a retail environment...I bought 4....they are fruit punch flavored and pretty good...I think they have 26 grams of protein...the great thing? they are less expensive than the ones online and you don't have to pay shipping and wait for them to come in!

I really like the South Beach Breakfast bar and their protien bars. I use them when I'm on the run. I still have a protein drink each day, sometimes 2. I do not eat the best.

If you don't like the additives in store-bought nutrition bars or hate paying $3 for a meal replacement bar or protein bar snack, you'll appreciate this recipe. My friend Sara passed a recipe on to me from a Body-For-Life message board and I've modified based on some kitchen testing. These are quick to make and make for a nice little snack, too. Best of all, they contain healthy dietary fat, are no-sugar added and do not contain glycerine or other unnatural ingredients. Be sure to keep them refrigerated and don't eat the whole batch at once!

Ingredients:

5 tbsp natural peanut butter (chunky or smooth)

1/2 cup dry oats or whole grain hot cereal (uncooked)

1/2 cup oat flour * (double the oats if you do not have oat flour)

6 scoops chocolate whey protein (~132 grams protein)

1 teaspoon vanilla

2 tablespoons flax seeds (optional)

1 cup non-fat dry milk

1/2 cup water (depending on what type of protein you use, you may need to add more)

Directions:

Spray an 8x8 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray. Combine dry ingredients in a medium size bowl and mix well. Add peanut butter and mix - the mixture will be crumbly and dry. Add water & vanilla. Using a wooden spoon or rubber spatula, everything until a dough forms. The dough will be sticky. Spread dough into pan using a clean wooden spoon or spatula that has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Refrigerate a few hours (or freeze for an hour) and cut into 9 squares. Wrap bars individually (use sandwich bags or plastic wrap) or store in covered container between sheets of wax paper. Keep refrigerated.

Modifications: Use vanilla protein and replace ~1/4 cup of the oatflour with a variety of nuts, seeds, or dried berries. Chopped almonds, hazelnuts, cashews, peanuts, flax seeds, sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, raisins, or dried cranberries would all work well.

* Making Oatmeal/Oat Flour: To make your own oat flour, all you need to do is put a cup or two of oatmeal in a regular household blender and blend it on high...it will turn into a flour. Store in a covered bowl in the pantry. It takes 1 minute and is VERY easy and cheap alternative to buying in the store.

I use pure protien also, the home made ones look good except I'm not sure how well they would travel in a purse. I use them when I'm on the go and can't take food with me. They are filling, chewy and I don't feel like I'm eating poorly or making the wrong choice because it is time to eat and I'm not home. Living in the city I have been stuck in traffic, it sucks when your feeling poorly needing something NOW, these have saved me.

I tried one of those and it wasn't too bad. I also get the big bag of whey protein powder at Sam's. I use a shaker cup and it mixes up real nice.

I feel the need to use those bullet tubes for something. They are way too sturdy to just throw away. Any ideas on what to store in them.

The only protein bar I have really used recently is a Protien wafer. PowerCrunch protein bars have 13 grams of protein, 5 grams sugar, 10 carbs and 200 cals. Some flavors have 14 grams protein. They have many flavors but peanut butter creme is the only one I care for. They taste very good, and light. You can find them at some Walmarts. For a while the only place I could find them was online or a local health food store here in town. Found them at walmart and they were much cheaper, 1.18 each instead of 2.00 everywhere else.
