| What are the best tasting protein/nutrition drinks?
I absolutely HATE the taste of Ensure and/or Boost. They just don't taste right to me. They have a bland tinny flavor that I just cannot swallow. Even the Glucerna shakes taste terrible to me...though I love their bars!
So I was wondering what sort of protein drinks people recommend and why.
Thank you.

First when I was given instructions re protein I was told to stay away from boost and ensure. honestly I don't know why. I just assumed high in sugar? I'm still looking for a protein shake I've tried so many, spent a lot of money and haven't had one that I like yet. I have one that I'm trying today that is chicken soup flavor. hopfully ill like that one. good luck to you and thanks for your question, hopefully you will get some good suggestions that will help all of us.

The thing to do is pick up the ones developed specifically for bypass patients.
You need to read the labels carefully, make sure they are low in sugar/carbs and fat in comparison to protein.
Ensure is too high in calories for bypass post ops, if I remember their labels correctly.

Well my favorit is Achieve One, a bit pricey but I really enjoyed them. Right now I have been using EAS and I get them at Walmart. Make sure to get the low carb ones. I like the chocolate, strawberry and there is a french vanilla too.

Whey Isolate 28 from GNC. I mix this wil milk but it says to mix with water. Syntrax Nectar has a bunch of flavors. I love the Carribean Cooler and Fuzzy Navel. There is a website on here to purchase them. I've also done Unjury. Your surgeon my have some samples to try from other vendors.

My favorite is the Syntrax Nectar Chocolate Truffle flavor. I am so hooked on it. I drink it every morning. Yummy.

Although I have not had a protein drink in a while I used to always use the Jay Robb Whey brand. I think it tasted the best and sat the best in my stomach. Jay Robb Official Site - The Fruit Flush 3 Day Detox, The Fruit Diet, All Natural Whey Protein Powder I used to mix it in the magic bullet.

Ensure or Boost will be too much for you post op. You will have to select protein drinks that are low carb and low fat.
The best protein drink is the one you can tolerate, taste-wise POST-OP! We all, I think, gave away or tossed one drink or another because we just could not stand it after surgery. Your taste buds will change and will not return to any point of normalcy for MONTHS. I still can't stomach IsoPure clear, which was my drink of choice during my pre-op liquid phase.
Buy or get small, even sample size, quantities of a few products to use after surgery. Within a week, you will be able to go to the store to buy a larger container of what you can tolerate.
Except for the IsoPure clear, I can now almost drink anything low carb/low fat. I like EAS shakes because they are in single serving boxes, but I only supplement 1x/day now (the rest of my protein is from food). I like to make IsoPure chocolate shakes, which I keep a canister in the pantry. If I give it a good long time, I can tolerate Atkins shakes, but they are a bit high in fat. Slimfast LOW CARB is also tasty.
