Where does everyone buy the protein shakes? Are thay the same shakes that are used before and after surgery? I can get them right from my surgeon but thay are expensive.

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

You can get them most anywhere depending on what you want. the supermarkets have them, most drug stores, Walmart, online sites. Don't but to many now because your taste buds will most likely change after surgery. What tastes good now most likely won't taste good after surgery. They are the same ones you will have after surgery. I used the Slim Fast low carb ones (they are also low on sugar)before surgery and I used sugarfree Carnation instant breakfast after surgery. Everyone has a different preference and will give you different choices. Try some sample if possible and make your own choice. Your surgeon may recommend one also. I used the ones that I mentioned because my surgeon recommended them for my use. (sugar free means no sugar added, the milk contains its own natural sugar that you mix with the packets of the Carnation Breakfast)

I have found that post surgery I hate any and all protein shakes that I have tried. I have a cabinet full of them. Just the smell of them gags me. I have made up my own concoction and I am enjoying it right now as we speak. Here it is:

1 packet Carnation Instant breakfast sugar free
1 packet of Beneprotein protein powder (a flavorless powder)
3/4 cup Silk soy milk no sugar added
a couple big squirts of Hershey Sugar free chocolate syrup
a dash of equal
and about 6 ice cubes
sometimes I add a dash of instant coffee granules
sometimes I add a bit of sugar free cool whip
Blend in the blender.

Tastes great and I cannot smell that gross protein smell. It is about 18 grams of protein. Not as much as most shakes, but if it tastes good then I can eat it, ya know? It will be a trial and error sort of thing. A lot of people love the ones from Bariatriceating.com
