| Super Moderator  | Hair loss takes place as a result of the rapid weight loss, not the surgery per se. So, if you lose a lot of weight with other methods like Atkins, South Beach, etc etc, the same thing will happen. It is temporary and will eventually come back and be normal again, after your body settles down.

Weight Loss Method Roux en Y Gastric Bypass | I had alot of hair loss that started between three and four months out and lasted thru the entire time i lost weight. THE thing is we dont go totally bald but due experience thinning. It was a very hard thing to handle as most of us took pride in our hair when we were very obesite. BEING im 1 month shy of 2 years out i will say my hair is comeing back in. ITS not nearly as thick as it used to be but its come back in quite a bit. MOST people i know have experienced this but the percents i dont really know! HUGS ....

| Hi everybody! I just wanted to chime in here on this one! I'm 6 months out and my hair is coming out like crazy! I work with 2 other ladies that have had the GB surgery and they experienced the same thing. I haven't been too worried about it because their hair started coming back in nicely. They are both about a year out.
