An 'odd' suggestion to help FEEL the sensation of 'full' Try standing up to eat. I KNOW it sounds odd or weird..but sometimes when we sit our bellies post op really push against that pouch and kind of makes it so you don't get that sensation of full which comes in a different place.
For some it's mid chest.
Others it's right below the sternum.
Others it's to the left of the sternum..
If you stand up and take a bite of food, chew chew chew then just wait a minute before taking another bite pay attention to the sensation of what that bite did after you swallowed.
Did it make you feel like maybe that was 'it'? Or did it still feel numb?
It can take a while for some of those severed nerves to come back into play and relay sensation back..so sometimes 'odd tricks' work well.
I had so much swelling with this surgery in April (open) that 2 bites nearly 3 was way too much. I wasn't able to go and sit at the table so I was eating in bed which was really pushing all that swollen area against my ribs. Once the swelling went down it was a totally different sensation altogether and standing to eat a few bites really helped to figure out this 'new message'/sensation.
It's all a learning process even long term!
