Default Had a Shock today!!!!

Well as you know I have had my problems, Well I have been to the hospital today and the GOOD news is that my bloods are back in normal range, I am still having the cold dithery spells but the doctor feels that I may just be coming down with an infection / Virus.......
My tummy was looked at by my surgeon today who is baffled, he has booked me for a CT scan but we did have a very serious chat about my future..............here comes the shock.................. IF I am still struggling to maintain my weight, and stabilise my bloods and the pain, he has asked me to consider having my Bypass Reversed!!

He explained that although on the scales, It looks like I have some scope to lose more, on my actual body/ frame I don't I am litterly skin and bone, and for weeks now I have struggled to Be healthy. All the protein supplements etc which could help me, I dump on... He has talked through that it is possible to do a HALF reversal which would mean taking the tube from my pouch back into my old stomach but half way down, so that the digestion of food would be easier and no dumping, I should still have some restriction but obviously not all........The thought scares me but then I do not want to live my life skinny but un-healthy and not being able to enjoy it.

So I have got to carry on trying to build up on HIGH PROTEIN RICH foods and carry on with the Vitamins supplements and then go see him in x4 weeks and we may have to make a decision.

If you know anyone who has had a reversal please let me know I would like to see if there is Life after Bypass..... I know it would be tough and I would have to be disciplined

Thanks for lisening once again

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

Glad to hear your blood work is good now.
There was someone who had a reversal, I think, but I am not sure. It isn't a complete reversal, so while you may struggle with control, you might find that it is still easier than pre op. Somewhere in between where you are now and where you are then. In any case, you should get as much information as you can. Did you ask your surgeon if he's had such cases before? If he has, you might ask him if you can meet that person--of course, it will have to be the person's choice to talk with you , not yours, but maybe your surgeon will be willing to contact such patients for you.
(((HUGS))) Keeping you in my prayers.

I am so sorry to hear that you may have to have the surgery reversed, it seems so unfair with all the issues you have had to add another surgery to the mix.

Good luck!

Here is someone that wrote a book about it...

I Want to Live: Gastric Bypass Reversal
by Dani Hart, Ben Reding (Illustrator)
You can even read a sample chapter here...

I Want to Live, Dani Hart, Book - Barnes & Noble

I also found quite a few pages on other forums where people that had done it gave references an such... you could probably ask them questions...
Good luck with your choice... whatever it is.

Thanks everyone, I am praying that it wont come to that, and I am cooking up a storm this week as I am off, trying new High Protein recipes, and making my own up.

Oh and Thankyou for the lonk to that book I am going to try and purchase it..

Hugs
