Default B 12 Survey

Hi,
I was reading a post today about B 12. I didn't realize there were two kinds: methylocobalamin or cyancobalamin.
I was told to take 500 mg a day of a sublingual B12...I only found one and just read it was cyancobalamin. I just talked to a girl in Support Group and she was told 1000 a week. (she is further out than me.)She also takes cyancobalamin.

The poster on the RR site (can't remember who) said her nut told her to only take methylocobalamin.
DOES ANYONE KNOW THE DIFFERENCE?
And:

WHAT KIND ARE YOU TAKING??? AND HOW MUCH A DAY?

I guess a vitamin isn't just a vitamin any more.

I would love to hear what everyone is doing.
Thanks very much!!!!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I take 500mcg daily, sublingual. Mine says cyanocobalamin. Hope someone knows the difference and which is better.
My clinic has never specified for B12 like they did calcium; citrate is better than carbonate.
I wish they made ONE pill for us WLS'ers, it would make our life so much easier

Pretty Woman that was me who posted about the B-12 in the post about me losing my mind. I responded back to your reply in that post. There are a lot of different sites explaining the differences. Here is a link to one of many... hope this helps.

The Right Kind of Vitamin B12 is Vital for Treating Deficiency

Thanks, Judi.
Guess I need more B12..(I hear it helps us with thinking clearly.)
I will sign onto your other post.
Of course I have the wrong kind...duh... so glad you mentioned the B12 issue
I would have never known. Am talking about it in support group next time I go.

Cyanocobalamin, 1 ml, subcutaneous, monthly.

Been doing it for years now. Seems to work, and it's one less pill to take every day ...

cyancobalamin, SL
I was told that I could do 500mcg or 1000mcg. I do the 1000mcg to be on the "safe" side. My levels were good on my checkup.

If left up to me, if I didn't do it in a daily habit, I would forget. That is why I opted to do the vitamin at home instead of a shot. I'd love to go to the chiro, but the timing is an issue...thus so would be something I have to do once a month!
