Question Potassium ?'s

Hi everyone!
I hope all is well....
I've been reading through all the posts about potassium and still have a few questions.
I'm not really sure if I am low on potassium, but I woke up with a HORRIBLE leg cramp last night! My last blood work was done on 5/24, and the doc's office said they would call if there was anything that was a concern-NO call. So, I went out and bought banannas today. I can eat about 1/2 of a regular size bananna. If I eat 1/2 or a whole one once a day-should that be enough potassium for my body? I should also mention that I just went back to work last week and I am probably drinking less fluids than when I was home. (HAVE to work on this!!!) So, maybe it was the liquids? I was very prone to getting leg cramps before surgery, too.

Offhand, anyone know any other foods that are high in potassium besides banannas?

Any suggestions/feedback is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

OH man!!!
YES the leg cramp can be from potassium or dehydration too!

I use about 1/4 of banana few times a week in my shakes...
there very filling and so far i been good on my potassium.
I do know my surgeon gives his patients potassium while in the hospitol via the IV...so dont know if that helped keep it up early out!

HANG in there and i would also increase your water intake.
THOSE leg cramps stink!!!

Hi jessica,
Potatoes are actually higher in potassium than bannanas. And they taste so good! Carry that water bottle with you always, so you remember to drink.

I say calll your surgeon and confirm that your potassium was okay, tell them you had leg cramps as well, and see what he/she suggests. In the meanwhile, keep up with the fluids as well.

I personally can't do the banana thing as they make me throw up..and what Doc says is RIGHTO as always!...check with your doc and see IF your potassium levels are low instead of just guessing they are...
-- and remember what she's said before----with the malabsorption we have regarding FOOD it also includes WATER ...so water water water water especially in this hot weather.
---I have had 2 days in a row with my job that is walking outside for 6 hours that I've thrown up and been sick from the heat even with drinking the whole time!!!
