| Question about vitamins...
I read the first couple of pages of this subject and found a lot of interesting things that I didn't know. My question is however, will your doctor give you prescriptions for all the vitamin suppliments you have to take or do you have to purchase them on your own? I am trying to narrow down the final cost to me now and for the long haul. TIA!

well i guess that will be depending on your surgeon and your insurance. In my case, my dr told me to purchase over the counter. its cheaper than a copay in most instances i think....

My doc gave my prescriptions but some things are over the counter, ie the multivitamin and calcium citrate as well as the b-12.

AS with half the stuff im sure each surgeon does different.
I just take the over the counter chewable centrums and havent had problems.
and im two years out and my levels are good.
We have added b complex, and i took biotin on my own
all over the counter.
THE only one i needed a script for was nascobal which is a snorted b12
thing. being i cant get to doctors regular it was needed but mind you my b levels are fine its just precaution for my tingly numbness

Thanks for the quick response. I guess I was hoping that he would give me prescriptions because while my husband is a postal worker with very good insurance, he is also retired Navy and the base is close enough for me to get everything there. As long as I have a prescription, I can get anything, even simple asprin without paying for it.
Since we are watching the expense and trying to cut every corner, this would be helpful in the long run. Thanks again, I am sure I will ask more dumb questions.

If that's the situation with prescriptions for you, you could explain this to your surgeon or PCP and ask them to prescribe your vits and supplements, as staying on them the rest of your life is a requirement with this surgery.

I know some doctors prescribe prenatal vitamins but i know for me
early out no way could i have swallowed one of those without it getting
stuck......
SO for me chewables were a great option.
