| Atkins advantage bars
Hi, I bought an atkins advantage bar today. It has 17 g of protein, 1 g sugar, Sugar alcohol 2g, carbs 18g. Are these ok to eat? Im having a hard time getting enough protein in. Anyone else eat these or have any info on them?

I eat them every once in a while when I'm on a road trip or can't get to appropriate food. I usually can't eat the whole bar, and save the 2nd half for another time (IF my 4 year old doesn't convince me to give it to her LOL). My surgeon suggests protein shakes over the bars, but said the bars could be used in a pinch. Take care. Amy

hmmm ive had those recently. be care ful with those. if you're having trouble getting in the protein try to just focus on the shakes and the water maybe some of those stallone pudding things fr1endly talks about?? unless you're hungry. are you hungry? i dunno. i wasnt "eating" much that early out. i just think if you get hooked on the convenience you might start snacking instead of eating real meals. this was all a head game for me early out. im not sure what to suggest because i dont want to sound like i know it all at only 3 months out, but I'm here for support if you need it.

angeluv, (((((HUGS))))) You are still pretty early out, you're going to have roller coaster emotions with eating, so, not feeling like eating is quite normal, just as feeling hungry is normal. You can get any range of emotions about food this time around post op.
Hang in there, and make it through one day at a time, you'll get your rhythm soon enough, once your body settles down, and the healing of your insides (which takes 3-4 months) is complete.
((((((HUGS))))) May your journey go well.

Thank u! Im scared that something will go wrong if I dont get all my protein in. What will happen if i dont? I dont want to get dehydrated either? I only got in like 35 oz of water today. I just dont want to end up back in the hospital or get sick.

well if you dont feel like eating, DEFINITELY just focus on your fluids. dont worry about the bars. or any other snack type thing. there will be plenty of time for that. 35 ozs is nowhere near enough fluids. you might find lack of hydration is whats making you be emotional, or question yourself etc. dont worry about the bars etc for now. try to get it at last 64 ozs of fluids a day. You protein shakes, and soups, and jello, oh and popsicles count towards fluids as well. If theres anything that you take awa from please let it be to get in all your fluids for the day. i learned this the hard way...

FOR me personally that bar is too high in carbs as i was soo strict
year 1 with keeping carbs down down down...hate to say that bar
had tad shy of my entire days carb total. BUT that was me because
i have CARB issues.
I think its a harmless product to keep in your purse for a crunch moment when you need something and nothing healthy is around if you like the taste of it as well.
I think they dont like the bars thinking we will have "GRAZIN ISSUES"........
cause its too like candy bars......
ANGELUV, your still early out the balancing can be difficult early out but you do need more fluids then your getting in.....and a protein shake can count towards your daily total of liquids so it helps with the protein as well. THATS why your doctor says also that the shake is better cause its protein plus ups ur liquids that you need.
THINGS will get easier to balance in time
but sip sip sip now this early on........
