Default Dr. Alberto Aceves of Mexicali Bariatric Center

I tried for years to get several insurance plans to cover my WLS. I thought because I was a former RN and hospital/healthcare administrator I knew how to work the system and was clever enough to know all the angles to be able to do this. When I wasn't successful, I researched bariatric surgeons and facilities in the US and was ready to schedule a date for lap band surgery in the US at $18,000-$27,000. Thank goodness I discovered a better and more affordable option. Dr. Alberto Aceves did my sleeve procedure at the end of July 2008. I've done from 243.5 lbs and a size 22-24 to 155 lbs and size 8-10 in July 2009 (my goal is 135 lbs). Many people are horrified I'd take the risk of going to Mexico for surgery. I tell them how I researched Dr. Aceves, and that I couldn't buy the kind of care I received from his staff and the staff at Hospital Almater in the US for any amount of money. I paid about 1/3 to 1/2 of what I'd pay in the US. I haven't had any complications and today I can eat or drink anything I want in small quantities. My only regret is that I didn't know about this option and have my surgery years ago. I cannot recommend Dr. Aceves, his staff or Hospital Almater strongly enough. Truly, I'd recommend them over and above anyone in the US (unless, of course, you can get your WLS covered by insurance!)

Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.
