Since there is nothing in the Delaware thread for Weight Loss Surgery, I thought I would break the ice with a link to my surgery group.
Christiana Institute of Advanced Surgery
As I sit here six days out from my gastric sleeve surgery, sipping on my protein shake, I thought that I would send out a little bit of "thanks" to my surgeon, and all of the surgeons, at CHRIAS, whom I have dealt with over the past six months.
One thanks is to my MAIN surgeon,
The man behind the trocars,
Dr Isaias Irgau M.D.
He's the president and co-founder of the Christiana Institute of Advanced Surgery (CHRIAS). He has extensive experience with minimally invasive weight loss surgery. In conjunction with his associate, Dr. Gail Wynn, he was the first to perform the LAP-BAND procedure and the first to firmly establish the laparoscopic approach to Roux-n-Y gastric bypass in the state of Delaware.
I will never forget my first time meeting with him, my nerves were on edge, I was almost in tears, I WAS HUNGRY, and I had to pee.... (yeah of all things to remember)
My second thanks goes out to
Dr. Michael Peters Jr.
He is the medical director of Bariatric Surgery for Christiana Care Health System. He is a board certified general surgeon with fellowship training in advanced laparoscopic surgery and bariatric surgery Dr. Peters received his medical degree from Thomas Jefferson Medical College in 1998 and completed his general surgery training at the Pinnacle Health Hospitals in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 2003. He completed a clinical and research fellowship in advanced laparoscopy and bariatric surgery at the Michael DeBakey Surgery Center of Excellence at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 2004 and joined the Christiana Institute of Advanced Surgery on completion of his fellowship.
Dr Peters is a great humored man, who struck a nerve with me when we met at the orientation meeting back in late September last year. He has a VERY strong handshake, nice firm grasp on his vocabulary, gets his point across very well, and also knows his way around the gastrointestinal area!
And Last but not least,
Gail M. Wynn, M.D., FACS
She's a board certified general surgeon with a special focus on weight loss surgery and advanced laparoscopic surgery. She is cofounder of the Christiana Institute of Advanced Surgery (CHRIAS) and is also the Medical Director of Bariatric Surgery at St. Francis Hospital. She has performed over 2000 weight loss surgeries. Dr. Wynn did her medical training at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine where she graduated with honors. She completed her surgical training at the Medical Center of Delaware, and has authored numerous publications and academic presentations and was voted on of Delaware’s “Top Surgeons” in Delaware Today magazine in 2007 and 2009.
Dr Wynn assisted me when I called her several times after my surgery when I was released from the hospital, and she was the D. O. C. (yes that is doctor on call!) She is one of the sweetest doctors I have ever had the chance to talk to, and was very pleased with her advice, and her assurance that whatever my mind was thinking at the time, it was nothing to be concerned about!!!!
And to all of the Physicians and STAFF at CHRIAS, whom if I named, I would probably be booted off of this site, for advertising for them, I thank you all!
Thanks for reading,
