| Buffalo General Hospital / Alan Posner, M.D., F.A.C.S. So far so good... I like his style, his straight-forwardness, no pussy-footing around... tells the risks out right, and you follow his program or you leave. I really like the fact that he listened to my questions and answered them in a way I understood without talking down to me; and he asked me if I had any more questions for him... WOW!
Dr Posner in Buffalo at Buffalo General Hospital is about the best thing that has ever happened to me! Had my WLS on Tuesday May 8th and was released on Thursday......all the staff who looked after me were the best!!!!! And I mean everyone, from the housekeeping lady who came in to empty the garbage pail to the Drs...eveyone asked me if I was ok, did I need anything, would I like to see a nurse...etc etc.
I'm impressed. Very impressed with the "perfect" WLS surgery I had in Dr Posner's hands to the followup he did during rounds to the greatest nursing team ever!
Oh, and Canucks. If you're doing your "due diligence" and searching for a Dr for the WLS, then please do consider Dr Posner. OHIP works with them, and they're the ones I chose and I'm so ever happy that I did!
Thanks once again Dr Posner! Your skilll has given me back my life! WooHoo... I'm on my way!

| Hello! I have not heard anything negative about this team... Since you are well on your way in the program you pretty much know it all! Dr Posner saw me Dec 5 2006, I joined their program then – started the South Beach Diet (their requirement)… you see the surgeon, the dietician, nurse practitioner… all very nice… I was given a list of tests including blood work, pulmonary function test, thrombosis Doppler, ECG, x-rays, psych consult, endoscopy that I had done, had to lose weight… saw them in January, March, April – got date for May 8th… post-op you return at 10 days, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year… I wish you the best of luck - and don't worry, everyone has the "what if" questions and everything else you're gonna have pop in your head - make peace with the fact that you are not just sitting idly by letting death sneak up on you! You are fighting it! You rock!!! Here's to a successful surgery with no complications!

| Buffalo General Hospital....In general.
I had Gastric Bypass on June 3rd at BGH with Dr. Forbes. I thought that Dr. Posner was great though (and funny..."shar pei legs" lol) at the intro seminar last summer. I stayed after and grilled him about stuff and he was very informative and helpful. I wonder how many times we have all passed each other in their hallowed halls?

I hate to be a party pooper.... I was originally referred to Dr. Posner by my PCP. I called the office and they sent out the paperwork that I needed to fill out. Took me a week to fill it out. I sent it back in, and waited, and waited, and waited for a call. I called the office at least 5 times within a week and all i got was an answering machine. I left message after message and no one returned my calls. This started in November, and I finally asked my PCP for another name in February. He gave me Dr Caruana's name and I started working with his office and am having surgery on June 29th 2009.
The only thing my PCP could figure, was that the nurses at Dr Posner's office were not returning calls because the hospital they were at was having "nursing problems" as in the nurses were not happy and were sabotaging his practice. I dont know if this is true or not.
But I didnt like the fact that no one would return my phone calls, so I went elsewhere.

I 100% recommend Dr.Posner he is the best . I'm 16 months out and i haven't had any complications at all i'm very pleased.
Everyone that i now that went to Dr. caruana has had some sort of complications . alot of people choose him because it is alot easier and quicker to get in .
When i submitted my application it was august and i recieved a letter for the seminar in september for october and had my initial visisted in november and a alot of test and anyway to make a long story short it took me about 7 months from start to finish and alot of had work to complete everything . but it was well worth it
Now a friend of mine put her application in a week after mine and she didn't have her surgery until 9 months later how they choose who goes first i don't know

I have Dr Posner...I think he is awesome, wonderful and extremely talented. He always makes you feel like a person and not a number. My first experience with weight loss surgery was with caraunna, surgery date scheduled...I chickened out the day of surgery and never went to the hospital...caraunnas office never once called to find out what happened and why. 1 yr later I submitted my papers to the WLC in May of 08, seminar in August, did all the testing. started in October and had my realize band 1-13-09. Dr Posner and his staff have all been wonderful, supportive I have recommended him over and over. I started my journey at 267 lbs I am currently at 179 lbs..BUT I have been down to 161 lbs and will be there again SOON!! I have joined this group for extra motivation and support!
