Lightbulb TLC: I can make you thin

I've found this show to be very encouraging at this point for me.

A lot of it, in my own opinion, is what we are trying to learn as WLS posties. How to eat 'on purpose' and for life. How to deal with our emotions instead of stuffing them down with food!

This week was the technique (tapping) developed by a psychologist and I swear it's helped me a ton already. I have periods of profound anxiety regarding money and relationship stuff and wow, already, knocking out the response to emotions that feel overwhelming is a huge step right there.

It kind of reminds me of the neuro linguistic re-programming thing I did years ago in therapy in dealing with anxiety. But better!

TLC: Paul McKenna (england/ish) "I can make you thin"

Good stuff, I've recorded it on the digital recorder to watch more than once!

Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

I love that show to it makes alot of sense. I am only 2 months out but it helps me think about how and why I eat differently. My mom is up from Florida and we watched it this week and she has been tapping every since.

I love "I can make you thin". I agree with you Bree....the tapping technique really helped me. I was about to explode because something my husband did. I did the tapping technique and voila I wasn't angry. The show is on Sundays at 9:00pm (EST) on TLC (channel 40 on my TV). I also have learned how to slow down my eating and actually listen to my body tell me "I'm full". Good stuff!

Ok, Bree, if Im supposed to tap when I am anxious about money, I'm gonna have bruises!!!!! DH and I were talking about retirement today (dreaming...) we were at the beach and watching folks sitting on their balconies enjoying the afternoon, and DH says we need to move there when we retire, I told him I dont care where I live I just dont want to be up to my eyeballs in debt anymore~~~ I'm so over it. LOL I think money issues are part of my eating issues pre op and it def is the reason I put off surgery for so long. Finally, DH asked me the real reason I hadnt persued it and I told him it was the cost (for me, about $1500) and he was like "make your appointments" I would never have spent that kind of money on myself but I'm so thankful I finally did.

I saw the shows. At first of was doubtful but as I listened he made a lot of sense and I like that I can apply it to my daily living with WLS.

I've been watching this show and have been skeptical but I'm a big psychology buff so I'm interested in everything about how the brain works. So this past Sunday he talked about cravings and I did the technique while the show was on for pizza. I crave pizza constantly it seems. Well, now it's Wed. and I've tried to work up an appetite for pizza and I can't do it. I just don't want it!

I also had NLP, Bree, and I have a friend who uses EMDR and tapping therapy on his addiction clients. For some reason I didn't make the connection that this stuff will work for food as well. Addiction is addiction, right?

I'm going to keep watching and trying. I've been kind of plateaued for a few months and since seeing the show, I stopped weighing myself and have been just following this show. Today I weighed and I'm down 6 lbs. Hopefully it will continue!

Hugs,
Chrissy
