Alt Weight Loss Surgery Insurance
Yes, you can often get insurance cover for your Weight Loss Surgery.
Our own Craig "Big-T" Thompson has been there and done that, and he's written an e-book about it.

FYI.
This is possible because it's already a bypassed pouch, and the procedure is done only on the pouch and the stoma, which can be approached directly by an endoscope. The small intestines can't be approached endoluminally with the exception of the portion nearest the stomach (no endoscope long enough and agile enough to pass throught the entire length of the small intestines), so a complete RNY gastric bypass is impossible to do incisionless.

Incidentally, a lot of procedures on the stomach are done through the endoscope now, without skin incisions, even removal of early stage gastric cancer.

Lisa, you'll need to read the report carefully.
Not to burst your bubble, but this is not for everyone/anyone, this is a procedure for those whose stoma and/or pouch has physically enlarged for one reason or another. You need to be diagnosed first that your stoma/pouch has actually enlarged over a certain rate and regained a certain amount of weight, to be eligible for the procedure. I believe the data for such enlargements is under 10%--more like 5% or so-- for RNY (it is higher for sleeve gastrectomy-- 10-15%). If the pouch/stoma is not enlarged, to make the pouch and stoma smaller than it's original size is too dangerous--the risk of strictures will be higher, the risk of being unable to keep your food down will become higher, which both will make the risk of malnutrition higher.

Lisa ~~hugs~~ you've been such an inspiration to me. Don't panic. It does sound interesting, though. Your stats are the same, are you having a specific problem? Maybe someone here knows something that would help? Even though you're a veteran, it's still a journey we share. Hang in there!

Good luck with this Lisa. I read the artlicle and it sounds like it could be a good thing if it works. On the downside of things I would imagine no insurance company would touch this right now.

One of my friends had this done at our hospital in MA its called a endoscopy revision and it only promises that you could loose up tp 20% of your body weight maxium so its not for everyone and you have to have regain a certain amount of weight.
